Positive: The grand oriental had alot going for it. Good size room, comfortable beds. Very good value for money and great staff

Negative: The only food available was a buffet. So if you fancy tea and cake or a sandwich, some bar snacks etc that was not available.

Positive: The hotel lobby and restaurant were very impressive - giving the impression of a very smart hotel. However, the rooms themselves were of a very different standard.

Negative: The rooms were very tired, basic not very clean. We stayed in far nicer rooms in all our other locations in Sri Lanka - and for half the price! We were kept awake at night by chanting and loud music nearby.

Summary: Impressive lobby and restaurant, but the rooms let this hotel down.
