Positive: When traveling, there are places that touch your heart. It rarely is the accommodation, but De Po'ong is one of these places. Peter opened a homestay so travelers could discover his community. I have been to a lot of places in my travels, rarely I have encountered such a welcoming community. Upon arrival, I was welcomed by Venan and Frederic who take care of the homestay. Venan offered to take me around the village and told me a lot about the daily life in their community. Everyone we met, from little children to elders were genuinely happy to have visitors, and interact with us. I was even invited to join some activities in the evening. The next day Venan and Frederic took me and their 2 other guests for a walking tour in the rice fields that belong to the community. It was an opportunity to explain some of the local traditions and hear about what people grow in the area. There are also coffee trees in the area and the coffee served at the homestay is their own. It is excellent. If you are looking for an opportunity to learn about the Manggarai culture, daily life of villagers in this region of Flores, staying at De Po'ong will be very rewarding. I will never be able to repay Peter, Venan, Frederic and the rest of the villagers for their kindness and for making my stay in Ruteng the most memorable moment of my trip to Indonesia

Positive: Peter and his team are very nice, relaxed and easygoing! We really enjoyed staying for two nights. The breakfast and coffee is amazing. And we even had a tour to the spider rice fields just near the Guesthouse. We also rented a scooter from them. If youre staying around Ruteng, definitely stay at Peters :)

Positive: As one big ass star isn't a possibility we have to do with the 10 out of 10. Where to begin with describing how how amazing this place is? First, the location is perfect, nearby some spiderweb rice fields. Here, with Peter (the host) we went on a lovely sunrise walk. Then, the breakfast. Every evening we would already look forward to the breakfast: 2 kompyang bread, one with egg, lettuce, cucumber and tomato. This, served with a cup of either local coffee or tea. Continuing, the rooms are spacious, and we really felt as if we were at home there. In the evening, the "natural" Aircon is very much welcome (this is the cold air from outside), tug yourself in under the warm blanket and enjoy an amazing night of sleep. But, what really made us extend our stay longer than anticipated was the kindness of the hosts, Peter, Venan, and Frederik. In the 5 days we spent there, we got invited to a wedding, we went together to some traditional celebration (caci dance), to playing pool with them in the evening, to witness their choir practices at their uncle's place, and to roast our own coffee and be invited for dinner all together. De Po'ong felt really as we were *home*, and when we will get the chance, we will definitely stay there again, and drink a cup of delicious coffee with our Ruteng friends.
Negative: Leaving. The location is amazing, and for Ruteng and surroundings you need a scooter. For people who dont drive a motorbike the location can be a bit more challenging. Not to worrie, there is grab and often one of the hosts can give you a lift aswell when they're available.
Summary: One big massive star

Positive: Amazing stay with Peter and Carolina ! They welcomed us with open arms, on a brand new building, we got to share the really good dinner and tour on the rice fields, to discuss with the family and to have only great moments. Bed is comfortable, blankets are thick and drinking water is available. No hot water in the shower but that's not important when you have such a warm welcome. Thank you again, would come back any time !
Negative: Nothing, it was perfect !

Positive: This was by far one of the best accommodations I’ve been to in Indonesia in terms of warmth and learning about the local culture! - Piter and Fian are the best hosts, so welcoming, I truly felt part of a family! It was so interesting to learn more about the culture and their village - the apartment is very spacious, clean, bright - delicious breakfast included - it’s in a quiet location, only a couple of minutes away by scooter to the centre of Ruteng. You can enjoy a relaxing walk into nature from the accommodation - there is hot water!
Negative: I loved everything!
Summary: Loved my stay - I felt part of the family!

Positive: We were the first guests at this accommodation, and Peter and his whole family treated us wonderfully. They made everything easy for us and were very attentive. There are still a couple of small details to finish, but the stay is pleasant and it has everything you need. It’s a pity we couldn’t go see the sunrise from their rice terrace.
Summary: Great memory
