Gramarye cottage, a traditional two bedroom former croft-house, recently re-furbished and positioned in a large enclosed garden, is located eight miles south of Portree at Peinachorran, Braes. In a spectacular location less than 100 meters from the shoreline the seaward facing cottage offers unparalleled views across the Sound of Raasay to the Isle of Raasay and on towards the Scottish mainland. Gramarye Cottage is located in the rural crofting township of Peinachorran, tucked just below the road as the Peinachorran sign is passed, facing the stunning view out to the Isle of Raasay and the mainland beyond. Set within a mature terraced garden of a third of an acre the cottage has access through a garden gate to the shore line with a vista that ranges from the sandy beaches of An Aird, to the extinct volcano on Raasay, the wildness of Scalpay and the magnificence of the Red Cuillin. Portree, the largest town on the island, is only ten minutes by car offering supermarkets, two petrol stations, banks, shops and a Tourist Information Centre. From the road, a sweeping path of gradually descending broad steps leads to the front door of the cottage.

Summary: Location and cottage is what you dream of when visiting scotland. Bit of drive off main road but with the views it is worth it. It was one of our highlights of our month in Scotland. Hostess was lovely and best we interacted with. Hope to come back.

Summary: The house is in a super position overlooking sheep meadows leading down to the sea loch. Every comfort was provided (including warm radiators for the chilly evenings) as well as wood burning stoves for which our host brought us extra kindling during our stay.

Summary: The cottage was clean and well equipped. We had everything that we needed for our stay. Our host was very responsive and welcoming. I cannot overstate how charming and peaceful the cottage is. We woke up each morning to the sound of sheep and a fresh breeze coming through the window. The kitchen is so cozy that I washed all the dishes by hand even though there is a dishwasher because I loved spending time in that room. We also really enjoyed the sunroom. The view across the water is spectacular. We visited right at the summer solstice so we got plenty of daylight each day. We got sun every single day at the cottage, even when it was rainy elsewhere in Skye. I suspect the location is protected by the mountain behind the house and by being on the east side of the island. There is a ruin of a dùn within walking distance of the cottage so make sure to go see it. We saw seals on a nearby island and a baby stoat and its mother on our walk to the dùn. Overall, I would gladly stay here again.

Summary: Comfortable beds and excellently appointed kitchen. The house has fabulous uninterrupted views of the sea and Raasay, is very quiet and privately located. Communication with the owner was helpful and friendly

Summary: This is our second visit to this beautifully located cottage. It has stunning views of the sound over to Raasay across a field full of sheep and their spring lambs. We saw dolphins out in the sound and a curious seal swim past during high tide. Jane, our host is wonderful and saw to my request for a lighter weight duvet and provided a lovely welcome basket for our stay. . I love this place and am sure we will visit again
