Summary: We arrived at The Artists Cottage and were immediately impressed. Getting access to the property with the key details was super easy and the cottage itself didn’t disappoint. The artwork throughout and all the features in the property made it so special. We have never stayed in a place like it! The cottage was surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife. The views from the windows were stunning. It is also situated well, near to the A9 which allows for easy access to many places to visit. Justin, who owns the cottage, was so helpful. He contacted us the day before with some recommendations and made it clear we could contact him if we had any issues - which we didn’t. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was well equipped and there was everything we needed for a very enjoyable week stay.

Summary: Lovely architectural details throughout the home - clean and a good amount of of space. Extra pillows and blankets for every bed but house was perfectly warm. Easy instructions for entry and overall great house and location. Note that "en suite" means that you need to walk through the next bedroom to get to the bathroom. Nice laundry room and while we don't have a dog, thought the dog room with beds was cute. Clean kitchen that came equipped with sponges, dishwasher pods, electric kettle - but other than salt, pepper, and a little cooking oil - no other basics. I don't know if its is by design or it needs repair that only the cold tap on the powder room faucet works and it seems that the instructions for turning on the oven - is literally the only oven feature that works. Alas - we made due. : ) Loved having a walking path right across the street. Also - amazing hike taking road to south while not far from Inverness to north. Be sure to plan groceries ahead and there does not seem to be local shops (need to head to Inverness).

Summary: The interior of the house, which was built according to the plans of the Art Nouveau architect Charles Rennie Macintosh, is tastefully and very attractively furnished. The 3 bathrooms are small, which didn't bother us, but were in line with the spirit of the times. It was a delight to wake up in the master bedroom each morning and see the sky through large windows. The use of the garage, carport, washroom and drying room was practical. The kitchen is spacious and technically very well equipped. Plates and cutlery are just enough for 4-6 people. Perhaps an extension of the equipment or addition is still possible here. (example: pasta plates) Communication with Justin, the homeowner, was very friendly, quick and accommodating.

Summary: We had a wonderful week over half term at 'The Artist's Cottage'. It was a beautiful place to stay and well equipped. We were very lucky with the weather and were able to sit out most evenings where we were lucky enough to see rabbits, ducks, deer, birds of prey and even a little weasel in the garden! The beds were very comfortable and the house was lovely and light with all the big windows. Justin was very helpful with any queries we had and there was lots of useful information regarding local places to visit and eat. The location is excellent - feels very rural (there are some community woodlands just across the road) but only about 20 minutes drive from Inverness. We explored lots in the local area but always enjoyed coming back to the cottage for a relaxing evening. The house felt like a very special place to stay. We had visited the Rennie Mackintosh museum in Glasgow on the way up and it felt like a continuation of the experience. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Summary: We only got to stay a week and it wasn't nearly long enough.. At least we had an incredible house to stay in. The artist's cottage is an incredible house located in the country, and is worth every penny.. It was a perfect setting with plenty of wildlife around. We are from a small town in Missouri, so this was a perfect house and setting for us. We loved the house and the neighborhood.. Can't say enough good things about it.

Summary: An interesting property architecturally and in a beautiful location - very atmospheric. The owner, Justin, was extremely helpful in response to questions and suggested local points of interest. Ideal as a comfy base from which to explore the many walking routes in the area. We enjoyed it there so much that we are planning a return visit next year.

Summary: Enjoyed my stay at artists cottage. Great location and stones throw from city centre. Hopefully will go back. PS. Justin was very helpful and pleasant.

Summary: We all felt the furnishings in the house were not up to standard - beds too short for comfort. The ‘art’ on the walls of an artists cottage was a joke - worse than ikea prints. The kitchen was poorly equipped. It was the detail that was lacking in a place renting for £400 a night. We would neither stay in the place again nor recommend it.

Summary: Great cottage and lovely location within easy reach of Inverness

Summary: I booked The Artists's Cottage more than 2 years ago and then the pandemic struck but Gael Holidays very kindly kept the original cost and we were finally able to stay in March. It is a very comfortable house, lovely and warm (once we got the boiler sorted) and with a well equipped kitchen. Be aware that one bedroom adjoins another and both bathrooms are ensuite, so make sure you are all good friends before agreeing to stay here! The Rennie Mackintosh details are lovely and the dining area is very cosy. The only downside were the showers, both electric and both rather old but apart from that I would recommend staying here if you want a base in this part of The Highlands.
