Positive: -The jungle guide recommended by the hotel was excellent. We were just the two of us with him, which made it easier to see orangutans. We also saw long-tailed macaques, pig-tailed macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, orangutans, and even black gibbons right in front of the hotel. -Very kind staff who even carried our bags. -Beautiful location deep in the jungle, magical swimming in the river. -Comfortable big bed, good mosquito net. - Tasty food.

Negative: -Very isolated: 30–40 min difficult walk to the village. -No hot water. - Electricity only from 8pm to midnight and not always stable. - Common areas a bit dusty - limited choice of food (except for breakfast there is only fried rice and fried noodles event though very good) and drinks (sometimes no bottled water or beer).

Summary: Unique and magical jungle experience, but be ready for very basic conditions and isolation.

Positive: Beautiful facilities, stayed in the bungalow which was a very unique experience. Great food (the best veg omelette I’ve ever had!) and very helpful staff. Stayed at a couple of home stays in BL and this was by far my favourite

Negative: Quite a hike to get to and from the place, but worth it and also very beautiful through the jungle. The hotel will arrange a porter if you require for arrival

Summary: Beautiful, completely immersed in the jungle and feels far away from the touristy centre of BL

Positive: Stayed here for 3 nights and what a time it has been! If you would like the ultimate jungle experience while still enjoying a comfortable bed, nice accommodation, fresh shower, and outstanding food this is the place to go. This place is surrounded by jungle, with all its wildlife in it, and next to a river where you can jump in after a day of walking. Yes, it’s a 30 minute walk from Bukit Lawang to the accommodation, but it’s so worth it. They will help you carry your bags if you don’t want to do it yourself, excellent service. Rama, Atja, and a few more (sorry forgot the names), thank you so much!

Positive: Located outside of Bukit Lawang, but it’s a short hike and very doable. Beautiful view’s from the terrace. Quiet en relaxing. It is a laid back place and the crew is super friendly and cool. We did a 2 night jungle trek with Edi, Galang and ‘jungle boy’ and was a highlight of our trip. They made sure the kids were safe and we also had a lot of fun with them. And the food on the trip was among the best we’ve head in Sumatra.

Negative: Not much really. Bear in mind that it is the jungle but the nights were relatively cool and to our surprise hardly any mosquitoes. We could easily sit outside in the evening. The rooms are basic but comfortable.

Summary: Just great and highly recommended in Bukit Lawang

Positive: The location was fantastic, right at the edge of the jungle with a fantastic view. The chalet we stayed in was wonderful. The balcony was great to sit on and enjoy the forest views. We did a 3 day jungle trek with our brilliant guide, Eddie, assisted by the very patient and kind Rama and Jerry the cook. We are both quite mature (60+) and not the fitest people, but they were able to cope with our slow pace. We saw many orangutans, monkeys of various species, birds, lizards, and much more. We finished the trek by tubing down the river. It was an unforgettable experience. Thank you to Eddie and his team for a wonderful trip.

Positive: This is great place to stay. Aca, the owner, has a cool mission to save the jungle. Yanta, the manager, shares that mission and is a real nature-guy. He is also an excellent host. Edi was our jungle-guide and is a remarkable person. The whole staff is looking after the guests in a very caring way. We miss them already :-)

Positive: We had to hike approx. 30 minutes to get to the place. It is located at the river, surrounded by jungle. We could watch monkeys while sipping delicious jungle tea. The food was very tasty. We liked the place so much that we even extended our stay. I would come back here any time.
