Positive: Location by the lake is excellent. There was a multicultural breakfast served by friendly staff. The receptionist staff were very friendly and helpful with maps and where to visit. I loved my room with a tea corner by the window.

Negative: I liked about everything.

Summary: The hotel is beautiful, modern with antiques display, very comfortable in an excellent location.

Positive: Rose is a super helpful with arranging transportation and guide/drivers. It really helps to have someone fluent in English. Great art - different and more interesting than boring art in the museums. The tea sunroom in your room is unique.

Positive: We liked the location, it’s placed beautifully right in front of the river. Hotel has a very nostalgic, cute tea house attitude, lovely backyard.

Negative: Our trip didn’t go according to plan: we got to Guilin to take the boat cruise to Yangshuo the next morning. We got misunderstood at the reception when trying to book the cruise, so the morning after there was no boat booked for us. Hotel staff was friendly, but insisted that it was our fault (“because you didn’t pay for the cruise, so it wasn’t booked” when nobody asked us to do so). It’s a pity, because in rest of cases they were nice and efficient. Another note: the property is older and a bit more shabby than one can imagine from the pictures.

Positive: .- Excellent location. .- Very comfortable beds. .- A corner in the room for having tea, which was wonderful. .- They prepared the invoice quickly and exactly as I needed. .- Good communication via messages with the staff. .- I asked for a different pillow and they brought another option.

Negative: .- The cleaning staff should speak quietly and not from room to room while cleaning. 7:40 am may be late for them, but in hotels not everyone goes out on early excursions; some people stay to rest. This happened on two of the three days we stayed there. .- If you arrive at the breakfast buffet at 9 am, the food will be lukewarm or cold. Since most people have breakfast around 7 am, if you go at that time everything is fine. If you go at 9, as they hardly expect anyone, you won’t enjoy the hot items.

Summary: Good value for money, just adjust a couple of things

Positive: The hotel is placed at a strategic position in the hearth of Guilin, in front the Rongshan Lake, there are also nice pubs in the area. The staff was always kind and helpful. The breakfast was good and it was served in a room with an amazing view on the surroundings.

Negative: There was a small misunderstanding about the room we booked, but nevertheless our stay was very good.
