Positive: We stayed here 1 night and it was very good. The location is perfect for visiting the Ancient City on bike or foot and also the Dam for sunset. The room was lovely and spacious, air con and hot water and WiFi. The bed was really comfy and we slept well. The breakfast was very delicious and we also had dinner here, which was also very delicious (but an added cost). We rented bicycles from the homestay for a day around the old city which was very helpful. We had a bit of a miscommunication regarding cost, but all was fine in the end.

Negative: The hosts were friendly, but as others have said they do try to upsell you on a lot of things (dinner, beer, tuk tuk, boat tours, Safari) and charge more than in town for things like dinner, beer, bicycles. It's not that much but came as a bit of a shock to us and so I'd suggest just clarifying the price for things beforehand to avoid miscommunication that we had.

Positive: I had such a wonderful stay at this guest house! 🌸 The hosts were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make me feel at home. Their hospitality and kindness made a real difference throughout my visit. They were always available to help and guided me with everything I needed. One of the best parts was how much effort they put into helping me explore the area. Thanks to them, I got to visit the beautiful ancient city and also enjoy the peaceful lakeside, which were unforgettable experiences. The recommendations and arrangements they provided were so thoughtful and made my trip smooth and enjoyable.

Positive: Perfect location for getting to see the best of Polonnarua, and handy for getting a tuktuk to other places for restaurants etc. the room is simple - comfy bed (pillows were great), working AC, a sofa, good wifi, nice hot shower. No fridge, but kot a problem for us. Mosquito netting good. The breakfast was lovely, very tasty, and we were served a cold juice drink on arrival. Punja seemed to run things, he did the tuktuk tour of the city and was very accommodating and flexible (we had our own idea of what route and stops etc.). He was keen quick to offer other services, some of which we took, others we didn’t, but we didn’t feel pressured. After all, their business mode is cheap accommodation supported by services. The rest of the family was lovely too, and they keep the garden very well.

Negative: We liked it, and it was what’s paid for. But there was a bit of an ant situation in the bathroom. Didn’t bother me, but my partner wasn’t too happy. Previous reviews mention the bike rental - yes it was twice as much as some other places (Raja bikes along the A11), but it was super convenient, and still amounted to very cheap.

Positive: Host are amazing family! They do have facilitated us every way in possible very quickly, also we had great dinner home made was incredible with local traditional cooking meals!! Airconditioner works well and rooms is super good, location is incredible to catch all ancient places easily from there and they rent cycles as well!! Very nice polite and kind people there!! Our stay was great looking forward to see them again!!
