Welcoming, comfortable,convenient,well equipped and well presented. The Cottage is adjacent to the chain ferry linking with the sailing town of Cowes.

Located right on the river so you can relax in this coastal setting and enjoy the constant marine activity with fantastic views over the passing yachts from either balcony.
The cottage includes one double bedroom, one small bunk-bed room, lounge/diner with views over the river, kitchen and one bathroom. There is also a designated off road car parking space for one vehicle right outside the front door
The Esplanade stretches the length of the beach and on the opposite side there is a green, an adventure playground and paddling pool and a café selling a variety of food and beverages, which is also a great vantage point to watch the spectacle of boats and yachts as they navigate Cowes Harbour and pass through The Solent.
Osborne House, Queen Victoria's family home, is a must visit whilst on the Island and is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the Isle of Wight. After first visiting Osborne, England's longest-reigning monarch wrote: 'It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot'.
Within a couple of minutes walk of the property there is a couple of great restaurants, an Indian (Taste of India) and an Italian (Prego) and for more 'every-day' family dining, a short walk to East Cowes Marina you will find the Lifeboat, which boasts an elevated, west facing deck from where a meal or a drink can be enjoyed in the sun, overlooking the marina and the variety of stunning boats in it berths.

Summary: We stayed at Anchor cottage for a short break, the cottage was lovely and warm for a cold January stay. We enjoyed watching the chain-link Bridge and being winter with the windows shut, the noise did not disturb us with the exception of the fog horn early one morning! The cottage had a dated feel and could do with an upgrade, the bedrooms sparse and a little cramped, especially the bunk room. However, it had everything that you needed for a comfortable stay and great river views.. The outside space, parking and neighbours were all excellent and we had an enjoyable time.

Summary: The accommodation tho cosy needs a lot of attention. Wardrobe doors barely functioned and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The ground floor suffered from damp and the smell was unpleasant. The location was good as it related to visiting other places/areas but the adjacent chain bridge was noisy, started at 5am and with minimum sound proofing, led to disturbed sleep. The bathroom was small but functional although the bath needs an anti slip mat. On a more positive note, a few supplies had been left for our arrival and this was greatly appreciated.Whilst we enjoyed our stay in general, the cottage in its current condition and compared to others we have stayed in, is over priced.

Summary: The cottage was exactly as described, clean and welcoming and in an amazing location. Having parking outside your door was a real bonus and the views are fantastic if you want to experience life on the busy estuary and Cowes harbour. The property is a great base to enjoy all that the beautiful IOW has to offer. The cottage details very honestly inform you that there is noise from 5am until late at night that comes from the 'workings'/activity of the very usefull/crucial Floating Bridge which is located immediately next door to the cottage. The chains etc do make a lot of noise as the bridge arrives and departs, but after 24hrs or so we became so used to it we hardly noticed it anymore. If I had to make one very minor criticism it would be that the towels could be replaced or even bettter, a different method of washing and DRYING them could be found to revive and soften them up a bit, they have lost their fluffyness and are a bit hard. That is honestly the only negative thing I have to say about this unique property.

Summary: Despite the freezing weather we were warm and cosy and close to Waitrose for supplies and The Lighthouse for a good pub, all with beautiful views of the water.

Summary: The cottage was in an ideal location. Amenities were near by. It was very clean and comfortable. Beautiful views and so near the sea. Well equipped but would recommend a welcome pack. Would definitely recommend and would go there again.

Summary: Lovely views especially if your a boat lover. Great location right next to chain ferry. Great for crabbing and fishing in private garden. Unfortunately when we arrived the upstairs and bathroom floor were dirty, sticky and had alot of pet hair on it, otherwise a lovely property well equipped for your stay.

Summary: This is the second visit to Anchor Cottage and already looking forward to my stay next year. The cottage is extremely comfortable with all the kitchen equipment you need. A communal area to sit in the sun and watch the world sailing on the river Medina. Dog friendly.

Summary: The accommodation was clean and comfortable and in a good location for our short break of five nights. The chain ferry is right next to the property and operates from 5 am to midnight, so if weather is hot and you need windows open and are a light sleeper it might be an issue for some. For us it was a lovely base from which to explore the island and we would book again. Very nice. Thank you.
