Positive: First off the location is unbelievable. Gob-smackingly beautiful. Mountains, babbling river, manicured lands. Lovely. We had been on a cross-country road trip. After a long journey, the staff were very welcoming and the check in process was easy. We were taken to our chalet-style huts adjacent to the pool. The amenities were simple but fine and faultlessly clean. The kitchen stops serving dinner at 6pm (which we didn't realise untill we really looked at the booking info after the fact, so that's on us.) and we arrived around 18:10. We really respected that they stayed there to take our orders and feed us.

Negative: It's hard to be objective as there are regional factors we as English people may not understand, however, the stir fried chicken and veg which we thought was a safe bet was not to our tastes at all and was quite gelatinous. Furthermore, I not long after got very sick. But I can't with total certainty say it was the food, so I've ommitted that from my rating. The beds are very firm and the Aircon is a little noisy even on the quietest setting, and the room key also controls the electrics. So if you leave the Aircon and fridge will turn off. Breakfast was set up buffet-style, but all the trays were empty. After taking our seats we were brought a selection of common Thai breakfast items, but there was no choice in this, and even after my friend refused it, it was placed in front of him. It felt wasteful not to eat it all. The national park we specifically picked this hotel to go visit was 'closed until further notice' - although information about this was very hard to eventually find, again, this could be argued it was poor planning on our part, but worth letting other potential visitors know. There is a language barrier, but where many other people we've met have actively tried as we have (basic phrases, Google translate etc.) there was no effort made. I didn't witness this, but my fellow guests were often ignored and walked away from whilst they were speaking. Everyone remained smiley, but ignored us. This leads me on to the biggest issue! - probably because the national park is closed and us silly Brits didn't know this- the hotel was virtually abandoned, we were a group of 3. We saw a group of 5 and a couple, so 10 guests total (approx. 5-10% capacity) This gave the place the atmosphere of a Pyongyang staged photo - clean, beautiful, but eerily quiet and unsettling. I can't score it less than 5 as so much of this was on us, but this was the low point of an amazing 2 week trip. Go in with eyes open. Bring your own food.
