Positive: Everything about this ryokan was impeccable. The staff were very hospitable. The ryokan was spacious with a beautiful view of the city. The garden area was relaxing to walk through. The private onsen in the room was also beautiful. We included dinner and breakfast and both meals were truly highlights of our stay in Japan.

Positive: It has a traditional charm and clean. Staffs are nice and great service. Food was also very good.

Negative: The door was not locked from outside.

Summary: It was an amazing stay at Yamanoo and it’s a place that I want to come back wheni go visit Kanazawa.

Negative: It is not something I did not like but an understanding that you will be sleeping on the floor with a thin mattress. It is part of the experience but not something that would discourage us from recommending this location.

Positive: Not being Japanese I loved trying all of the traditional dishes. There were many options all beautifully and carefully prepared. The staff was very helpful explaining all dishes

Positive: The rooms were lovely, staff friendly.

Negative: The difficulty finding the hotel, and the walk up the hill. Too many courses for breakfast and dinner - we weren’t able to eat all the food and felt bad leaving it.

Positive: After traveling Japan for over 2 weeks, easily my most memorable stay is Yamanoo in Kanazawa. The room (more like the house!!) was an exceptional blend of history and modern amenities, capped off with a sweeping skyline view of Kanazawa. To top this off, the staff was so incredibly nice and warm, making every part of our stay feel welcomed and effortless. The kaiseki dinner was fantastic, expertly highlighting the local seasonal ingredients, which helped deepen the connection to our stay at Yamanoo. Just writing this makes me want to go back ASAP!!
