Historic Ledgelawn Cottage has been offering her picturesque setting to travelers seeking the rustic beauty and alluring calm of coastal Maine since 1888 when E. S. Linekin opened her as The Ledgelawn Inn. Now a family cottage, she retains her charms from another time.
Begin your day with coffee on the deck as you take in sweeping, westward views across your lawn and private pool towards Linekin bay. Enjoy fishing from your private dock and have a picnic in the adjoining over-water gazebo (mooring just off the dock is available). The pool (unheated) provides cool refreshment on those lazy summer afternoons while the western orientation bathes the cottage in sunlight for most of the day. Sunsets at Ledgelawn are particularly spectacular and ending the day with your favorite beverage on the deck or in the gazebo is sure to remain a special memory for years to come.
The interior of the cottage harkens back to rustic comforts of times gone by when guests of Ledgelawn arrived, trunks in tow, by steamship. The main floor consists of a large living room, adjoining dining room with seating for 10 at the table, an eat-in kitchen with a wide range of appliances and cooking utensils, a powder room, a washer and dryer room and a spacious primary bedroom with ocean views and a private bath with shower. The first floor also affords a game room with a small table, sofa and television.
The second floor of the cottage offers five bedrooms; two king bedrooms (one with ocean view, one with garden view) and one queen bedroom with ocean view. In addition, there are two twin bedrooms on the second floor (each with two twin beds). Two bathrooms (one shower and one tub/shower) are both accessed off the second floor hall. On the second floor landing, a small library with a cozy chair is perfect for those times when you want to be alone with your favorite book.
The third floor provides a relaxing retreat with an "osprey's view" of the ocean and an additional full bathroom.

Summary: This was just the place for our extended family. We were 9 people, but there was plenty of room for more. The house is on a large immaculate lawn that would be super for croquet on the roadway side, and a spacious sloping lawn down to the shore on the other. The house itself reminds one of a small inn, with rooms on the 2nd and third floors, and a large public space with a fireplace surrounded by a sofa and chairs, a long dining table, and sets of chairs for reading, playing guitar, etc. The upper floors also have nice reading nooks. One o fthe nicest things is the porch, with rocking chairs protected by a roof that goes covers half of the deck, so you can be sheltered from the rain, but sit in the sun as well. There's a separate TV/gaming room as well as a separate laundry room. There's a three-car garage, partially occupied by a ping-pong table. The garage has standard15A 120V outlets. The kitchen has a breakfast table, and is better-equipped than most rental kitchens, with plenty of plates/dishes/glasses, and a gas stove. The views from the house are quite nice to the west; if you venture down to the dock you get stunning views of the entirety of Linekin Bay and beyond. There's an open-air structure at the foot of the dock with a picnic table; if it had been warm I think we would have spent lot of time down there.

Summary: Our group of 10 adult siblings and spouses from far-flung places had a terrific stay at Ledgelawn Cottage. We relaxed on the porch catching up, watched spectacular sunsets from the lawn above the water, enjoyed meals together both indoors and out, and loved exploring the area. We found the house super comfortable for our large group and so charming from top to bottom. There was plenty of room for everyone to find some privacy when desired. It’s clear that a lot of thought has been put into anticipating guests’ wants and needs, which we greatly appreciated. The hosts were very responsive ahead of our stay, and clear about details specific to their home. All in all, a fantastic experience from start to finish! We would happily repeat. Summary: A beautiful house in a beautiful part of Maine. It was a perfect getaway for our 2 families and it could have fit another comfortably. We enjoyed big family meals, fishing off the dock, swimming in the cold and refreshing waters, and exploring the nearby town.

Summary: The property was perfect for us. The swimming pool is a little run down but very usable. We had a bonfire and so-mores and I suggest everyone try it. The ocean is very salty but worth swimming in at this time of year.

Summary: Ledgelawn has the charm of a great old lodge with just enough updates to be convenient and comfortable. Everything was super clean with plenty of towels and linens. We had ten people with room to spare. Four teens took over the third floor and loved having their own space (which didn’t even count as a bedroom in the listing). Kitchen is updated and well equipped for just about anything. All appliances are modern and worked well including nice gas cooktop, fridge with ice maker, large washer and dryer. Time flew by swimming in the large pool, jumping and fishing off the dock, and kayaking in the bay. Tons of lawn space for games and running around. Boothbay is a great town. So much good food! But schedule your day to return home for the sunset because the best view is from the deck. Great place to unplug, unwind, and enjoy some family time.
