Positive: We were looking for 'real Bali' - not a resort or a busy tourist area but a spot amongst the locals. We wanted peace, privacy and comfort, and time to slow down and experience Balinese life. After reading the reviews for Villa Koi I shortlisted it but then kept coming back to it. I'm so glad I did. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The villa itself is huge, spotless, incredibly comfortable and welcoming. The huge double doors lead into your own private art gallery with an enormous bed (and I'm very fussy and can't sleep on hard beds). The bathroom is bigger than most bedrooms and we absolutely loved it. The plunge pool is great and we spent many hours in there every day and night. The porch area out the front is absolute bliss, looking out at the garden and koi pond. We had 11 nights there and didn't want to leave. The villa is every bit as good as the reviews, and the people make this place absolutely perfect. Robert is a gem, a real gentleman who cares for you like an old friend. Kadek and Ketut are beautiful people who look after the place and any trips you might like to do. Veronica gives the best massage I've ever had and will come to the villa. Everyone around Villa Koi added something warm and memorable to our stay. For food we dined up the road at Mournia many nights, a 1 minute walk away, and couldn't speak more highly of the young Balinese staff. If you're looking for a place to really unwind, or a comfortable base to come home to at the end of busy days exploring, trust the reviews and book Villa Koi before you miss out. It's a unique home away from home, visually stunning, incredibly comfortable with hosts who feel like your oldest friends but also give you all the privacy you want. And a special shout out to the very chilled out Hobo and Rusty who hung out with us on the porch and greeted us each time we came home. We'll be back. We loved it.

Positive: We loved every single thing- The host Robert and his laid back but personable vibes! the greenery, the amazing art all around the property, the beautiful old Chinese and Indonesian artifacts scattered around The property, the amazing and impressive architecture of the buildings, and all the comforts and touches inside. The location couldn’t be better, quiet and lots of big trees around. Robert seems very passionate about the area and seems to give a lot back to the community in whatever way he can which is so great to see. He is an absolute gentleman and so great to talk to (and his art is also Awsome!) We are already thinking about when we can come Back and stay here again 🤩

Positive: Villa Koi is beautifully decorated and provides a very peaceful setting from which to explore real Bali. The host was extremely kind and helpful. The beach and restaurants are in walking distance. Day trips can easily be arranged to places of great beauty and interest. The volcano and lake batur at kintomani and the Jatiluwih rice terraces are very worthy of a visit.

Positive: The serenity of the place is magnificent. Sitting on the veranda facing a beautiful garden, a Koi pond and Robert’s (the owner) juglo painting studio is lovely. Beach is very close and local restaurants in the close neighbourhood to visit or to deliver to Villa.

Positive: Lovely villa with all that you need located at Saba Beach. Morning and afternoon walks along the beach is a must. Predominately Saba is a place where you meet and interact with the local community. a good place for more genuine experience of Bali life. Easy to get to day trips to Ubud and Sanur. Friendly staff and Hobo the dog ;-). Host Robert Walker is a gentleman.

Positive: What a completely unexpected joy it was to find Villa Koi! We were in Saba for a friend's wedding and this apartment had the bonus of being 5 minutes' walk from the venue but it was so much more than we could have hoped for in terms of comfort and experience. From the first meeting with Robert our host and his beautiful dog Hobo, we felt instantly welcome and at ease, with his welcome gift of snacks, drinks, and a fresh slice of cake in the fridge a lovely touch especially after a long journey. The villa itself was so well decorated and full of beautiful furniture, ceramics, and of course art works painted by our talented host - it was a completely relaxing and inspiring place to rest for a few days and just soak in the atmosphere and the Balinese way of life. Saba itself is very quiet but this just added to the appeal - we really felt we were seeing a more authentic area and getting a feel for a very different type of Bali we'd seen in some of the other areas on our trip, and we loved the quieter pace for a few nights. Robert was an incredible host, always going out of his way to help us and provide us tips for the local area and we are very grateful to have met him and Hobo - it really was the highlight of our 2.5 weeks in Bali and we would come back to stay at Villa Koi and with Hobo and Robert in an instant. Thank you so much!

Positive: Beautiful Villa, surrounded by a lovely garden full of antiques and art. The Villa has everything you can imagine ( including the largest most stunning bathroom I’ve ever seen) and a really comfortable huge bed. Robert as a host goes above and beyond to make you feel right at home and is so kind and generous. The plunge Jacuzzi pool is a great and completely private. Then there is Hobo, Robert’s dog. The sweetest most gentle dog who’s always happy to see you. Across the road is a riding stable who offer private rides on the beach, for all abilities and was a real thrill. Just down the road a 5 minute walk is a small turtle sanctuary also a must to visit.
