Positive: We have stayed a few times in the past and it has always been nice, the hotel has just been taken over and I have to say the staff this time where exceptional so friendly nothing was too much and the food was excellent.

Positive: We liked the location, the staff and the quality of the cooking in particular. Staff were friendly and obliging - nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellently cooked and very nicely presented. Portions are generous, too. The location couldn't be better and our whole stay felt very civilised.

Negative: It took ages to get any warm water in our room, and it never got properly hot. With not many people staying, it isn't a surprise, although it was slightly disappointing.

Summary: A great stay in a delightful place with wonderful staff.

Positive: Room - single ensuite. Appropriate for needs, comfortable and clean. Hotel has been re-opened under new management for not very long and it is obvious they are n the midst of making improvements Food - supper and breakfast both excellent Staff - friendly and welcoming. Anxious to make sure everything is OK Location - lovely town. handy for where we needed to be

Negative: Very little - room was a little tired but there's clearly an intention to upgrade the hotel based on the considerable work that has been done in the public spaces since I last stayed there under previous management. Tweedale deserves support.

Positive: The hotel has recently changed hands and the new owners are working hard to provide a good experience but naturally it takes some time to get the property up to the right standard. The staff were exceptionally helpful. Dinner was of a very high standard and good value for the quality of food that was offered. The location is great for exploring the local area and near enough to have a day in Edinburgh. Accept that it slight flawed at the moment and support a family business by choosing to stay there.

Negative: The bedroom was very tired and showed the lack of historic investment, with peeling paint work on the ceiling. The cleaning was adequate but it was disappointing to have cobweb hanging from the ceiling.

Summary: Come and stay and support a local family business as they work to improve this delightful inn.
