Positive: We had a wonderful stay and our amazing host Valia went absolutely above and beyond. Each morning we were treated to a lovely Greek breakfast which was not only delicious but extremely filling. As we aimed for an active stay, including watersports and the ascent of Mount Ida, among other things, we found the breakfast option particularly useful. The property is nestled in a traditional village, enjoying tranquility and beautiful views over the mountains. If you are looking for a real Greek experience, this is a perfect spot.

Positive: The proprietress is wonderful: friendly, helpful and a great cook (our stay included delicious breakfasts). The apartment is well furnished and cozy with beautiful views. Gerikari is a lovely town which was rebuilt after its horrifying destruction by the Nazis. Great place from which to explore the Amari Valley. Plus an adorable family dog! Only caution: you have to be able to use narrow stairs in the apartment.

Positive: What can I say about the Tulip House in Gerakari/Yerakari? Many wonderful things! Our stay in the Tulip House had all the modern comforts while maintaining a more traditional and authentic experience in this beautiful region of Crete. Not only is the unit spacious (and clean), perfectly suited for a small family or couple, it also has the modern amenities the average tourist needs while on vacation. The hospitality and kindness of the family cannot be understated! We ran into some trouble, and managed to damage their new washing machine! Although we have ordered the part, we are sorry to not be able to stay to follow through with the installation since, funnily enough, my husband manages and maintains rental units in the US. We feel awful about causing them issues. Despite this, the family has been very kind about the entire situation, which is very appreciated! The amazing homemade breakfasts every morning by the family are delicious! My children are picky eaters at home, and I have never been able to get my daughter to like eggs, however, they made this potato omelet that she devoured three mornings in a row now! My family is very happy, and I cannot thank the owners enough for their hospitality, generosity, and kindness. They have given us a once in a lifetime experience we will cherish. Look no further and book now for a more traditional stay in Crete while experiencing Cretan generosity! Also, I must add, they have a dog that kind of leads you around when you’re walking, or meeting you when you come back from a day excursion elsewhere. He loves scratches behind his ears.

Positive: We are delighted with our choice to stay in Tulip House apartments. It's only been a couple of days after our holidays and we already miss the coziness of this place. The hostess Valia always took care of our comfort and needs. Every morning it was nice to hear: "How are you today?" Valia's breakfasts were amazing. Everything from local organic products and made with love each morning throughout our ten-day holiday. Amazing! Thank you very much!
