Positive: Good location and views.

Negative: The food was ok, normal pub grub really. My burger was only warm. The room was rather 1990’s trust house forte style (corporate). The young restaurant staff seemed confused by some simple request “(a glass full of ice please”). And the Second Lady at reception was just plain grumpy.

Positive: The food in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was extremely good. The bar is great with traditional pub games such as darts and skittles which for a competitive family staying there is great fun. The staff were very accommodating as I had a very demanding make up artist visit as it was a wedding we were there for and she was very specific about lighting which meant moving tables on the pub to accommodate her and they did so without hesitation. The shower in the bathroom is always a good way of rating and this was good.

Negative: Rooms are on the small side but if not in them a lot it’s not a problem.

Summary: Excellent value for money. Local walks, a spa, a great pub atmosphere and superb food.

Negative: Our room had a flat roof at window sill level. The roof had air-conditioning system and extractors continually running. A horrible background noise in a country setting.
