Positive: My stay at The Village Bunaken was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed like family. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the staff truly feel like one big, warm-hearted family – always kind, smiling, and ready to help with anything. The location is stunning, with amazing snorkelling spots right in front of the resort. I saw clown fish, sea turtles, and so much vibrant marine life just a short swim from the shore. It’s like having a private underwater paradise at your doorstep. One of the highlights of my trip was doing my first Discovery Diving Course. The dive staff were professional, calm, and extremely well-prepared, making it a safe, smooth, and exciting introduction to diving. I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience. I also had the chance to go on an early morning dolphin tour, and it was absolutely magical. Watching dolphins in the wild was something I’ll never forget. If you’re looking for a place with genuine hospitality, incredible nature, and unforgettable underwater experiences, The Village Bunaken is the place to go. I can’t recommend it enough.

Positive: The bungalow was clean and confortable. The food was good (breakfast, lunch and diner) with nice portions. The staff was very nice. It was very easy and convenient to organise diving excursions and courses.

Negative: The photos are misleading, especially regarding the pool and restaurant. Expect a very very small pool and the restaurant was not as warm and welcoming as in the photos, it’s actually more of a cafeteria where the menu is fixed and served at fixed hours (cannot order something else). There are only a few sunbeds that are often all taken. We found that this place was a bit expensive for what it offers. During checkout we discovered hidden fees. Also, no AC in the bedrooms, just a fan, so some nights were very hot.

Summary: Amazing diving but accommodation a little disappointing

Positive: The reef at the hotel (5-10 minute swim) is really beautiful so location is very good. Great snorkeling all day. Nice staff members and good food (it's a set menu). The room is nice with a good bed, hot water and a fridge. (When i was there the safe could not be used because they lost the master key).

Negative: I got the feeling that this place was about the money. More expensive than anywhere else in Indonesia where I visited. For transport to and from the hotel I had to pay 680.000 one way; if you can, organize it by yourself; I'm sure it can be arranged cheaper. Massages also more expensive than elsewhere. On booking.com, they say it's all inclusive, but it is full board. Drinks are not included except for water, coffee and tea. There is a limited choice other drinks that you have to pay for.

Positive: Little piece of paradise with a casual, laid-back feel. Fresh and deliciously prepared food and great staff. Snorkeling was just wonderful, both at the house reef and on the boat tour to a few spots around the island. Tons of fish, lovely coral, and clear blue water . Many sea turtles as well.

Negative: There is no AC, so the room does get a bit too hot for hanging around in during the day. But you want to be in the water during the day anyway!

Negative: Expensive. Bathroom needs renovation, there's a lot of mold everywhere. Pool was extremely high in chloride and not suitable for swimming.

Positive: Our family had a lovely stay at The Village Bunaken. We were tucked away in the mangroves which was perfect for reading books and relaxing. The snorkeling is awesome, and our children had a very good time learning about the aquatic ecosystem that surrounds the island. Highlights include the friendly staff, the cozy atmosphere and the afternoon tea time.

Negative: We liked everything! We encourage the resort to look into more renewable energy supplies.
