Positive: Superb little cottage in a beautiful setting. Very clean and comfortable. So well equipped and a lot of thought has been given into making our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Generous welcome pack provided by very friendly and helpful host. Perfect for our short stay.

Negative: No local facilities and a 15 to 20 min drive to the nearest town. However we knew this in advance and not so bad on a summer evening!

Positive: Cottage is on a used road but very quiet at night, making for better sleep. Sheep in pasture at rear made a nice view in the morning. Cottage had lots of character, & welcome basket was very thoughtful.

Negative: No info re rubbish , but this was clarified by text. We didn’t tackle oven as advised timer needed to be set which we never do at home. Husband who is 6’3” tall managed to avoid low beams but walked with a stoop! Sofa is uncomfortable, there are two chairs.

Positive: An amazing stay in a lovely, cosy cottage. The views across Garsdale were amazing and we had a wonderful 15 mile circular walk to Dentdale one day and walked the 5 miles to Farfield Mill on the edge of Sedbergh, a wonderful gallery of local arts and crafts, another day - thank you for the maps available to use. On the two warmest days of our stay we were well looked after with a lovely private patio and a couple of really comfy outdoor chairs. Loved being surrounded by hills and trees and birdsong - it was idyllic. WiFi and TV reception were great to have and if the weather had been poorer the sofa and fire would have been really cosy with plenty of books to keep us reading. The bed was comfy with a good shower ensuite upstairs, the Old Cart House has been tastefully renovated and we loved having familiar eco products in the bathroom and kitchen for our use. The welcome hamper with biscuits and Kendal mint cake and 2 bottles of local beer was wonderful. And thank you for coffee and tea making facilities - enough coffee and tea bags that the fact that I hadn't brought from home didn't matter at all. It is amazing how much you can fit into such a small space and make it fully functional with all the necessities - microwave, fridge-freezer, hob, oven and washing machine and plenty of crockery and cutlery for two people enjoying a couple of days off. Thank you to Jack and Loraine for a wonderful stay and for making your EV charger available to our old Renault Zoe on request - much easier than having to take it to Sedbergh or Dent to charge when we have limited range. You really went the extra 'mile' for us 😉. Definitely want to come back at some point!
