1 Bedroom Cabin in Barksdale

This property was run as a small motel for 50 years by my grandmother, marketed as a "hunter's paradise". We have been slowly renovating the property, and now have four rooms and the Gathering House that are available for select dates. Room #4 consists of two King beds, a bathroom with a tub and shower, a/c, heat, Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and a mini-refrigerator. We have added 55" TVs, and Wi-Fi is available to our guests! The room has had a "face lift", with new paint and black-out curtains. There is a breezeway right outside the room for you to use, as well as a charcoal barbeque pit.
We are near the Nueces River where you can enjoy fishing, swimming, and kayaking. There are several restaurants in the area, including our onsite coffee shop, Barksdale Coffee Company! It is open Monday-Saturday and offers great breakfast and lunch options, as well as some of the best coffee in the area! There is also the Chicken Coop across the street (open Mon-Wed & Fri only), and some amazing businesses to shop during your stay.
There is a 2 night minimum on our rooms. We make exceptions for guests on motorcycles or bicycles who are riding the Two Twisted Sisters route or through our beautiful area, and for out of town guests who are attending one-day events. Please call us at 512.981.7876 for more information!

Summary: Spend most of my stay at the river. The breezeway on the property is the perfect place to BBQ in evening. Their hospitality was incredible. Down to Earth with heart. I recommend this historical stay, if you are looking for a place to chill.

Summary: This was our second time renting at this location. It is very easy to find. It is off a main highway. There are a few spots to swim and play in the water nearby. The rooms are spacious and have what you need . The beds are super comfy. They even provide a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. There is a community BBQ pit outside on the patio and chairs with pretty lights to just relax and have a conversation. The provider Gena is so thoughtful and asked me to let her know when I would be coming and she would turn on the ac in our rooms so they'll be nice and cool when we get in. They even had a essential oils diffuser in every room and the best smelling hand soap and plenty of towels in the restroom. It is a no frills place but I prefer it that way. You have everything you need and it isn't a huge property with tons of rooms so you don't have loud neighbors. This is my new favorite spot to get away to. Gena is fast to respond and willing to accommodate you. I couldn't have asked for a better host or a better place to stay. I can't wait for our next trip. Thank you so much Gena. You are amazing.

Summary: We very much enjoyed our long weekend at the Nueces River Retreat. We had plenty of room, the AC worked great, and it was close to great swimming locations! In the evenings, we had a great area to hang out and cook some burgers! We look forward to visiting again!

Summary: We go to Camp Wood a few times a year to relax in the Nueces river. The regular place we book was not available. We found this place on vrbo and was only 4 miles away from Camp Wood which was great. The rooms are simple. Two beds, restroom, mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine. The thing that impressed me were the little perks. They had good hand soap and a humidifier diffuser thing that smelled great. The beds were comfortable and they had black out curtains. They also have a cute little patio with chairs that we hung out in and drank beers. One of the neighbors even turned on the patio lights for us and it made it more festive. They were close to everything we needed and was close to a creek where you could swim. If you plan on eating takeout do not expect anything to be open past 8. We knew that but still wanted whataburger so my bf had to drive to uvalde which was about an hour and a half round trip. The communication was the best and everything was great. You will not regret staying here. We will definitely be back.

Summary: If you want secluded and isolated this is the place. There is really nothing around. We stayed here because it was "close" to the river we were going to float. There is a little town about 5 miles away to get something to eat. The room I had was just a few feet from the main road. It was a bit noisy.
