Positive: The Merchant House was brilliantly located in the town centre close to amenities. The house was charming, warm and welcoming. I had to book the house at short notice and the price for the house was very reasonable. The host was very helpful and I appreciated being able to contact him when I had questions.

Negative: Just a little thing but the lack of curtains in the smaller room made it difficult to sleep in that room.

Summary: A charming property that was ideal for our short stay in beautiful Kilrush.

Positive: We really enjoyed our stay here over Christmas for a week. Paul and his family were great, it was so lovely to meet and chat with them. Paul showed us around the property and was available for any questions we had. He had a lovely Christmas tree and electric candles in the windows which really added to the Christmas cheer. The log burning fire was lovely to see and made the living room very warm and cosy. There was an electric blanket on in Master bedroom and central heating in all the rooms. The decor, furniture and paintings made it feel like we were stepping back in time and were very elegant. The kitchen had all the amenities required to make it feel like 'home away from home'. The property is right in the centre of Kilrush and we had a lovely time exploring close by areas. We were very happy with our stay.

Negative: The wifi worked better in some rooms than others, but this wasn't a problem for us.

Summary: We loved our stay here, we felt like we were 'home away from home' and would definitely return.

Positive: The house is beautiful. The renovation of this townhouse is done with a light touch,it's perfectly executed. If only more towns had similar reclaimed town houses. The location is ideal for exploring west Clare. Kilrush is a great foodie town with top class places to eat. Beds are really comfortable. Gorgeous big old cast iton bath. Loved it.

Negative: We didn't meet the host. No instructions left regarding heat, hot water, waste disposal, TV, etc. It's not a major issue. Just if this was provided, it might enhance future guests' stay, as would a small welcome package of milk, bread, etc. Again, it's mot an issue, butost hosts do provide this.

Positive: Very authentic and unique get ready to step back in time with all the mod cons this an excellent place to stay in the center of all things close to the center of town you get transported to a time gone past and as you look out of the sitting room windows on to the beautiful square in Kilrush you feel like you are the merchant watching for you goods to arrive in to Capps
