Summary: Location is the key benefit to this hotel, across the street from the beautiful public gardens and walking distance to everything you could want in Halifax! Check in staff and service was very slow. Check out line was long; restaurant is overpriced. Comfortable bed and clean room -- the best part of my stay was the excellent and friendly customer service offered by Chris, bellhop and porter extraordinaire.

Summary: So glad to have found this gem of a hotel in Halifax. It's beautiful and well located in the city centre. The room was very large and spacious with comfy beds and an Nespresso machine, with coffee pods supplied. There are some things to gripe about though. We've realized that this is a very large hotel and seems to be a venue for weddings and special events. What we experienced as a result was a very long and painfully slow check-in, as well as some short-lived but loud and obnoxious behaviour from other guests on our floor. Despite this, I'm willing to try the hotel again in the future.

Summary: We really liked this historic hotel. Our suite was huge and was very comfortable. We didn't have a view (our room looked into the inner courtyard with a view of the cooling unit) but the room itself made up for that lack of a view. The bed was great and the suite was very clean. The AC worked well. The nespresso maker was nice to have. We really liked The Arms restaurant in the hotel and had dinner there both nights as well as one breakfast. One improvement is if you could order breakfast room service the night ahead. When I inquired about this I was told they couldn't guarantee a delivery time and I couldn't order the night before, so that didn't work as we had a boat ride to get to and didn't want to be stuck waiting for room service. Most other nice hotels I have been to let you order breakfast the night before to be delivered at a certain time. The Public Gardens across the street from the hotel was lovely. The secure parking garage under the hotel worked well with in/out privileges even though it cost extra. I would stay here again.
