Negative: For rooms on the ground floor, the music from restaurant was quite loud. I'd recommend a upstairs room to future guests.

Positive: Lovely staff and atmosphere. Always happy to return after trips out into the bustling city!

Negative: Not very powerful aircon or water pressure (but both just about adequate) Lots of open air for hotel amenities, so maybe complimentary mosquito repellant would be helpful.

Positive: Historic old hotel, very interesting vibe if you are looking for something that is not a chain hotel. Great that they have many western options for food at their restaurant as well, so you can have plenty of choice.

Negative: Because it is old, some facilities are old as well and may not be working too well, such as the water boiler. Overall, everything was manageable.

Positive: My group loved everything about this hotel. It has charm and character all set in an old world persona . The staff are very diligent and friendly and made us feel so welcome . We would highly recommend this gem of a hotel and hope to return in 2006,..

Positive: The location of the hotel is fantastic, the hotel is beautiful and the room are nicely decorated with style and very spacious. the staff is absolutely fantastic and helpful.

Negative: the hotel has serious humidity issues, I adressed the issues to the staff taht did everything to make me feel conformable.

Positive: An 18th century English villa in the middle of the city center, sumptuously furnished with heavy, flowered sofas, mighty chandeliers and bright lampshades. Old marble floors in the foyer, white-painted wooden ceilings with a whole army of heavy fans hanging from them. But of course there are also signs of age: crumbling plaster, interesting cracks on the brownish discolored walls, which have only been patched here and there. The most beautiful decay, which contrasts with the elegant sight of the staff dressed in black or white when the coffee or beer is served with the utmost discretion. On the walls are numerous photos of prominent hotel guests and famous places in Calcutta from times gone by, newspaper cuttings and letters from guests. Breakfast and dinner are good, but it is also not far from this hotel to the well-known traditional restaurants on Park Street (Mocambo, Peter Cat, Trincas, Kwality etc.). For reasons of comfort, I recommend booking one of the deluxe double rooms, even if you are traveling alone.

Negative: There was nothing that I had not been prepared for on the basis of previous reviews.
