Looking for a staycation or vacation? The Cape is located on Shad Bay just 25 minutes from downtown Halifax, 15 minutes away from Peggy’s Cove and 5 minutes away from the quaint Prospect Village. It has spectacular views from it's two tiered back deck and 50 foot wharf and the backyard opens up onto your own private beach, where you can enjoy the water, sand, beach toys, 2 kayaks and paddle board. With huge windows all along the back of the house, the kitchen, dining and main living space, have breathtaking views. If the beach and outdoor fun doesn’t keep you busy our collection of games, books and online tv/movie options will keep you well entertained. The Cape is perfect for your getaway all year round.
The space:
We bought this cottage in 2008 as a gathering place for our family. We have always dreamed of owning a cottage right on the ocean and we are excited to share it with you. It is a place of gathering, connecting and sharing, where friends and family can come together to refuel, step away from the demands of everyday life, and build lasting memories together.
The open concept kitchen, living and dining room invite conversation and cozy relaxation by the wood fireplace. Enjoy dinners around the diner table, with plenty more room for dining and conversation around the large kitchen island or curl up in the family room with a good book from our library, or play a game together from our game selection.
The cottage can comfortably sleep 8 guests (7 adults and 1 child). There are three bedrooms and one common sleeping area. The primary bedroom has a queen sized bed and an en-suite bathroom that includes a full bath, washer and dryer. The second bedroom has a double bed and is next to a full 3 piece bathroom. The third bedroom has a double bed. The common room has a double/single bunk bed. All bedrooms offer quiet comfort, cozy duvets, and pillows inviting you to settle in and get comfortable. There are extra towels and basic amenities available.
***All linens, duvet covers and shams are freshly washed and pressed between guests. Extra care is taken to clean and disinfect commonly touches areas and surfaces.
***The Cape has a digital key pad for entry, which offers guests a contact free self check in and check out.

Guest access:
The Cape has WiFi and good cell service. Guest have full access to everything the home and property have to offer.
Other things to note:
We expect that our home will be treated with care and left in the condition it was found. There is no smoking permitted inside. No parties or events are allowed. Only guests booked into the reservation are allowed on the property.
We have a hot tub for our guests to enjoy. It will comfortably fit 4-6 adults. Please let us know if you would like to use it and it will be set up and hot for you when you arrive. There is a $60 surcharge for the use of the hot tub.

Summary: The good: cleanliness is excellent, location is perfect, check in and out is easy, the kitchen, the view, the kayaks, the hot tub, and communication were all great. It looks just like the photos except the cottage is a little smaller than expected but still very nice. The bad: the master bedroom bed is rickety and not queen-sized. The master bathroom door is a pocket door that disappears into the wall and has to be retrieved by using your fingernails. Although outside the power of the host to change as it is a Halifax/ Nova Scotia issue, visitors should take note of the water restrictions and complicated recycling requirements, which do impact the enjoyment of your stay. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. Looking at the ocean every day is wonderful. The shaded deck was enjoyable as was the hammock.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at the Cape and would gladly give it a 5-star rating! The property was perfect for our large group, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The hosts were fantastic—very attentive, checking in with us throughout our stay to make sure we were comfortable and to see if we had any questions. One thing we wish we had known in advance was the water usage restrictions. While we completely understand the need for them, it would have been helpful to be aware ahead of time, especially with a large group. That said, we made it work and it didn’t take away from our overall experience.Our family had a truly memorable time, we loved being on the ocean, the beautiful sunsets and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub at the end of the day. We are grateful for the beautiful setting and warm hospitality. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Summary: First is to comment on the hosts, they were great to deal with and very responsive to any questions. Our first impression when entering the home and seeing the view was breath taking. What a great deck to sit and watch boating activities or sea birds. Access to the water was easy and although water temps were still cool, we did go for a dip. The kitchen and living room are well laid out and very comfortable. An added feature was the hot tub located on the lower deck. The location is ideal for day trips to Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg and Halifax. We highly recommend The Cape to anyone looking to stay in the Prospect Bay area. We do have just one recommendation, to replace the down stairs bed with either a queen or even a king. Thank You Again

Summary: Cheryl and Michael were incredible hosts with great communication and a house book that covered all the bases. The house was lovely: incredible location and really nice inside. It was a great base for day trips (we did Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg). I highly recommend. It was nice to have access to the private beach/dock and the kayaks and paddle board.

Summary: Loved the house. Roomy enough for our group of 6. The house is very clean, well equipped and feels like a home away from home. The location is beautiful. Feels like a rural location but very close to downtown Halifax and many activities. The hosts were great, reaching out to make sure all was good and answering any questions we had. Summary: The property is gorgeous and boasts ocean views. At night, the stars are incredible from the wharf. The hot tub is under the deck and sheltered from the rain. I highly recommend this accommodation!
