Cruck End (ref E3749) has retained the original cruck beams, whilst Swallow’s Nest (ref E3245) was formerly the waggon house. This area affords fell walking, bird watching, riding, cycling and fishing, whilst Appleby, just 2 miles away, host to the gypsy horse fair in June, offers golf, a swimming pool and bowls as well as shops, inns and eating places. Penrith, with cycle hire and the Rheged Centre, is 10 miles, Hadrian’s Wall an hour’s drive.

Summary: Comfortable cottage that is truly accessible. Owners available but not intrusive. Very cosy atmosphere. Minor criticism was the condition and paucity of kitchen equipment. Mugs blackened easily, some crockery was badly cracked, only one pan had a lid that fit. If this was put right cottage would be perfect ! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Summary: Nice cosy cottage , a bit old fashioned but it a great place to unwind. Appleby 5mins away , and less than an hour to Keswick and Ambleside. Nice meeting Wills and his wife , lovely couple . Would definitely stay again.

Summary: Overall a very peaceful and relaxing location to get away from the busy everyday life. Lovely; helpful owners, able to recommend plenty places to visit in the area, happy to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Short drive to the nearest town for a local shop and places to eat or another short drive to Penrith for larger supermarkets etc. Lovely views and plenty to explore in the area.

Summary: A wonderful break, very good value for money and well cared for accommodation make it worthy of our recommendation. It may be lacking local amenities but that's not a problem to us we prefer to enjoy the peace and quiet.
