Positive: A perfect little quiet hideaway, a little outside the hustle of Holbox downtown, which makes it perfectly serene and relaxing. Still everything you need is within walking distance. The host is extremely welcoming and makes you feel at home instantly. She provided us with a lot of useful information, from dining options to tours, bike rentals and which ATM to avoid in order not to spend too much on fees. We were the only guests at the time of our stay and had the whole property almost to ourselves - including the lovely rooftop terrace and pool. I especially loved the friendly interior of the hotel with plenty of light and plants that give the place a cheerful feel - while being spotlessly clean. Would definitely come back next time we’re on Holbox!

But the most special thing about this place is the owner, Susanna. It didn’t feel like staying at a hotel at all—it truly felt like being hosted. She constantly made sure we were comfortable, gave us very helpful recommendations, assisted us with everything we needed, and even treated us to an incredibly delicious cake! If you’re looking to enjoy a piece of paradise in a slightly more secluded location that offers a unique and personal experience—this is the place for you.

Positive: Sunstep is an awesome hotel. Great location, not in the centre, only 10 mins walk. Very peacefull, clean, spacy rooms, incredible rooftop area with a beautiful little pool. We had an amazing stay and susanna went beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We will definitely go back. Thanks mucho again susanna 🙏🙌👌👌👌

Positive: The host was incredibly welcoming and gave excellent recommendations for the island, restaurants, and excursions. There was complimentary drinking water, coffee, and even free cake, which was a lovely touch. The facilities are modern and very well maintained. The balcony and the rooftop terrace with pool and sea view are beautiful and perfect for relaxing. Everything was spotless, and the shower had very good water pressure (which is not always common) The location is quiet and peaceful.

Negative: There was nothing to complain about.

Positive: The location is great if you like to walk or have a bicycle or golf cart rental. It's about a 20 minute walk from the centre of Holbox, so it's very quiet at night and there's less noise from the taxi ATVs & golfcarts. There are some great restaurants close to Sunsteps, so you don't have to go into the centre all the time. The location is also convenient for going to Playa Punta Cocos, the best beach on Holbox! It's also a huge bonus that the water in this hotel is drinkable, so that saves a lot of hassle and money, and the fresh baked cakes every morning were a great touch... yum! The rooftop pool is fantastic and the room was very clean and comfortable. Susy is an outstanding hostess! She provided so much helpful information, definitely don't hesitate to ask her anything.

Negative: Beware that this property doesn't accept credit cards for payment. Only cash or PayPal or Wise transfer. This came as a surprise to us after we had booked.

Positive: The location was great, far enough out of town to be more relaxed and quiet but close (2-5 min walking) to a few restaurants and shops. The room was spacious, clean and very new. There was a huge double bed which was really comfortable. There is a lovely pool on the roof which was almost always empty while we were there, it was clean with great views and a nice spot for the sunset. We loved the fact that we could refill our water bottles at the hotel and there was always a freshly brewed coffee and some cake to snack on. The host was one of the highlights, she was knowledgeable about local attractions and tours and gave us plenty of advice. She made sure there was torches available for walking the streets after dark and ensured a mosquito coil was always burning in the public areas of the hotel to prevent guests from being bitten. She went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, even brining me a glass of wine while I was lying by the pool one day. We felt incredibly welcome and well taken care of, I have not experienced such good hospitality in any other hotels, this was the best!
