Summary: We fell in love with sleepy Charente and we loved staying in your house, being in the gorgeous village of Verteuil. The house is extremely comfortable, with plenty space for our group of 14. Bedrooms and bathrooms are beautiful and luxurious, and the kitchen extremely well equipped (2 dishwashers!). We enjoyed going to the boulangerie every morning, and popping out to the village bars on a few evenings. We filled our days lazing in the heat, dining in the courtyard or garden, swimming a lot, ping pong and Pilates in the fabulous studio, reading in the hammock in the peaceful garden, playing in the river. Top outings were: canoe trip from Ruffec, cycle ride to Nanteuil-en-Vallée, and boules at the Roman amphitheatre. Blissful. We’d go back in a heartbeat. Our only grumble is the noise of the cars, tractors and bin men in the early hours and the extreme heat on the top floor. Neither of which can be helped.

Summary: We had a tremendous time during our stay at this property. The house has all the modern comfort while conserving all of its original cachet. The village is a little hidden gem in the middle the beautiful French countryside.

Summary: The house, pool and garden exceeded our expectations and we can thoroughly recommend it. The property is everything as described but the multiple flexible bedrooms, bathrooms and showers make it ideal for a family group. Those wanting quiet spaces had plenty of choice with landing alcoves or hammock in the garden or even the upstairs of the studio ( loved by our five little granddaughters as their den).Plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery and a huge pile of pool towels made coping with larger numbers so much easier. As a previous guest commented the beds are really comfortable and we enjoyed the quality sheets. Being able to walk into the village each day for our croissants, baguettes etc was an added bonus. Nick was very helpful beforehand answering any questions we had and when a couple of issues did arise Jackie dealt with them very promptly. We had a wonderful stay despite the weather being more unsettled than anticipated and can only speak highly of our whole experience in the renting of this lovely village property.

Summary: We had a fantastic week staying in this beautiful property. We were 2 families with 6 young children in total from 4 - 13. A stunning stylish property in a gorgeous location.

Summary: We had a lovely week in this property. The weather wasn’t great (just two properly sunny days) but there was plenty to do to keep us busy, and the heated pool meant we swam every day. The house itself is brilliant: lots of space both inside and out. We were a group of friends, and had three babies in our party. The two different living rooms meant one could become a play room with toys, and the other could be kept for adults to read or play games. The property manager, Lydia, was hugely helpful by offering up and dropping off her own family high chair in addition to the one at the property. As for the village: it was absolutely stunning. A quaint little village with the chateau at its centre and a river winding its way through the middle (we had a couple of swims in the river, which were lovely!). We did find it quite quiet (most shops were shut 1400-1600) but it had everything we needed. A 5 mins walk to get fresh pastries every morning, and the epicerie and butchers had enough staples to get by if we couldn’t be bothered to drive to the supermarket (enormous Le Clerc supermarket about 10 mins drive away). The wine shop/ bar was just lovely. We had a couple of hiccups with maintenance but found Lydia to be responsive and efficient at getting things sorted. One piece of hopefully constructive criticism, however, was regarding the temporarily broken boiler, which meant 2 out of 3 showers in the main house were out of action. Lydia got an electrician to fix it within about 36 hours of asking, which was great, but it was annoying having 13 adults sharing one indoor shower (plus one outside) and a bottle of wine or box of chocolates to acknowledge that would have gone a long way in engendering goodwill about the situation. All in all though a lovely holiday and a strong recommendation for anyone thinking of booking it.

Summary: The house of Nick and Tina is one that is exceptional to find when searching for a rental house in France. We stayed with 13 adults, the house is offering enough space, comfort and privacy to have a relaxing holiday with a larger group of friends/family. While some of us enjoyed the pool, others were having fun in the barn playing ping pong. In the evening, we spent time in the garden around the fire pit. The house is equipped with valuable furniture, fine decoration and most important, comfortable beds with bed sheets of excellent quality. It feels like home away from home. A place to return to. Big 'thank you' also for Jackie who welcomed us and was very responsive when we had a request. Belgian friends.

Summary: We enjoyed one of the best holidays ever at Nick and Tina's property. The house, garden and pool are simply wonderful. The photos do not do it justice. Along with property manager Kev all our questions and needs were met in a super friendly and efficient manner. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the beds/linen were extremely comfortable. We had briefly visited the village before and were very keen to return for a longer visit. The property is in the perfect location, less than 5 minutes from the jaw-dropping view of river and castle, the boulangerie, charcuterie and bars/restaurants. Cannot recommend this property highly enough and will definitely book again.

Summary: The property offers spacious accommodation for large family's or groups with luxurious facilities all oozing personality and individual design. The house is truly beautiful, and set just 2 minutes walk from the centre of the village which has a boulangerie, butcher and a selection of excellent bars and restaurants. Turning the other way from the village takes you immediately into glorious countryside with other beautiful villages nearby. As a keen cyclist, the roads were quiet, and the terrain interesting and beautiful. The management and support of both the property owners and local property manager was second to none. We were looked after with the utmost care throughout our stay and would not hesitate in recommending both this property and village as the most wonderful place to stay in this area of France. Also nearby is the town of Ruffec which has a large E. Leclerc supermarket as well as a larger selection of shops, garages and other facilities. Canoeing / Kayaking is also available just outside Ruffec with the facility to paddle all the way down to the village of Verteuil su Charante. A really good adventure! We had a large family group with an age range from 22 years old though to my Mother of 85 years of age and every single one of us loved the house, pool, table tennis, fire pit, BBQ and facilities throughout this property and very much hope to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful holiday making unforgettable memories for a lifetime. Ash & Jo

Summary: Just returned from a week at the property in a group of 4 families with children aged 4-9. We had a lovely stay here and enjoyed the facilities as well as the close proximity to the village centre! All the bedrooms where large and done up to a very high standard. The house was cool and allowed space for the children to have some downtime watching dvd's or playing games inside when the temperature was hitting up to 40 degrees! The pool was great, the kids spent hours playing in the water and also enjoyed the table tennis and grounds. We utilised the bike selection and did some small rides through the countryside which was lovely. The firepit was a hit on the cooler night! Nick and Tina were very helpful in the period up to our stay and on arrival and their local representative was on hand to let us in the property and help with anything whilst we were there. Overall it was a very pleasant stay. Thank you.

Summary: Hello Nick, hope you're well and I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at your lovely house, the setting is amazing and the property matches it. It is stunning. What a wonderful job you have done on what I imagine must have been quite a restoration! It is also incredibly homely and it made for a memorable holiday for adults and children alike. There has been talk of booking for next year, I don't know if you offer a discount for early booking but let me know if you do. I also wanted to sing the praises of Kev, he gave us a very warm welcome and we felt in safe hands from the off. All in all a brilliant experience - hope you manage to get out there yourselves again soon! Best Wishes, David
