Positive: The hotel had an excellent lobby and lounge area. The hotel room had a excellent view of the mountains. The hotel cultural ambassador Rose, provided an amazing milk tea ceremony and song. The hotel had free folk costumes to borrow.

Negative: The hotel facilities were disappointing. The lights were dim and there was a chill throughout the hotel. The bathroom was so dark, it was difficult to apply make up, everything was in a shadow. There was no fan or ventilation. Somehow the room window mechanism broke or was weak and the wind popped it open - this was fixed quickly. The most disappointing however was the breakfast. The restaurant was chilly, dark and boring. The food choice lacked imagination. It was hard to believe this was an international Shangri-la hotel. The food stations had rice noodles, congee and eggs staples but most other dishes sat untouched and cold. There was lots of staff. The place was organized but the vision was lacking, the simple things that reflect excellence or prove a wow factor were missing. This was a 3 star tour stop breakfast. This hotel was the only hotel in our multi-city Yunnan vacation that did not provide a personal response to our booking.com messages. We were sent advertising and advised to telephone the hotel. We relied on our Lijiang Hotel to call and ensure we had a taxi pick up at the train station. It was a free pick up service and very necessary for us. Difficult to arrange but much appreciated. Great driver.
