Positive: Great location within Shangri-La Ancient Town, near the North Gate. Very friendly staff - she provided us with advice, and allowed us to stay way beyond our check-out time. Reasonably sized rooms with comfy beds - loved the heated floors and electric blankets! On the ground floor, there seemed to be facilities for customers interested in renting traditional costumes though we didn't use these.

Negative: The hot water supply could be improved - once it started up, it was fine, but it took about 5-10 minutes of running the tap continuously before the temperature started increasing. Once stable, it was also quite fiddly to get the temperature just right (water was either way too hot or way too cold).

Positive: Great position right in the pedestrian precinct of the "ancient city". Tashi was very helpful about where to catch buses to get around the city, to the monastery and a taxi back to the train station. The ginger tea was very welcome and breakfast was very good.

Positive: Overall, a mixed experience – some pleasant aspects but significant drawbacks The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff were generally helpful when needed. Upon arrival, they arranged a pickup from the train station, which was greatly appreciated.

Negative: Unfortunately, there were several issues that affected our stay. The hotel runs its own small shop, and the doorbell rings every time someone enters – the sound carried all the way to our room and continued late into the night. If you're planning to rest during the day, be aware that the atrium is often filled with loud children playing, which makes it difficult to relax. There was a motion sensor light installed next to the bed that turned on every time we moved in our sleep, and there was no way to disable it. We had to cover it manually in order to get any rest. Additionally, there was no hot water available early in the morning, which was frustrating.

Positive: Exceptional location and newish facilities. Breakfast was mediocre. Corridor was dark when leaving at 6 am. Towels were white, rough and not fluffy. Bathroom heated and floor was warm
