Gite Estelle with its blue Provence shutters, is a charming property with its own private garden and large covered terrace. Estelle is set within a small private historic hamlet which consists of one other gite, about 25m away, barns and an ancient stone cottage. The pool is shared with our other gite that sleeps 4.
Estelle is approached along a parasol pine tree lined drive, past Gite Delphine and into a courtyard surrounded with the old stone buildings. It would be difficult not to be enchanted.
Estelle has a large fully fitted kitchen, including a dishwasher, with a generous table easily seating 6 and an original fireplace. The kitchen leads directly onto the terrace perfect for al fresco dining and relaxing. There is a separate cosy living room with 3 seater settee and comfy chair.
The two bedrooms are situated on the ground floor, one has a kingsize bed and the other can be configured as either a twin or superking room. There is a good sized shared bathroom with an over bath shower.
The pool area is nestled at the lower part of the property and is accessed via private stone steps from the garden. The large 10x5m heated pool has a lovely sun drenched terrace. The pool is shared with our other gite.
Outside you will also find the laundry room which includes clothes airers and a selection of books for you to enjoy during your stay.
Estelle is completely private in her own right however, should you wish to holiday with two parties or a larger family, please look at our other gite - Gite Delphine.
If you want a break from relaxing by the pool or exploring the grounds at La Terrisse, there are plenty of things to do in the local area:
* 'Parc en Ciel' is about 8km away from the property and is a fantastic aerial assault course, suitable for all ages and in a lovely wooded valley with gorgeous pool area making a great day out ).
* There are many companies that offer canoeing or boat hire down the beautiful Dordogne or Lot rivers. You can choose the distance you cover and stop off to visit villages or picnic along the way.
* The region is rich in history and has numerous castles and bastide (walled) towns to visit. We are particularly fond of Monpazier and Monflanquin (about 20km away), which are beautiful towns with craft and antique shops and plenty of excellent cafes and restaurants. Chateau Bonaguil is 8 km away from the property and is well worth a visit (). We also love the much smaller chateau at Gavaudun, with it's access staircase cut into the rock (6km away).
* In the summer months on most evenings you can find a local village fete where you can mix with the locals and enjoy regional food and wine.
* The prehistoric sites of the Dordogne, such as the troglodyte village at Roque Saint-Christophe () and caves at Lascaux are within easy reach.

Summary: The property really did live up to the expectations of the photographs. A really lovely set up, and the owners Jo and Paul were wonderful and very helpful with local advise and recommendations. We particluarly loved the hot tub especially as it is covered so when it was raining it didnt matter! The pool was the only one i have ever been to that was properly heated to a perfect temperature. We highly recommend a stay here.

Summary: This is a stunning location, huge grounds with lots to explore and greenery everywhere you look. The gite has everything you could possibly need, was immaculately clean and very comfortable. A huge plus for us was the covered seating area, offering shade in good weather and shelter when it rained. The pool was fantastic, large and warm with plenty of pool toys available for the kids. Jo and Paul have every base covered and made us feel very welcome, whilst giving us plenty of space. They really went out of their way to keep the kids entertained, with lots of toys and games available for use. The local night markets are superb and well worth a visit. In summary: a fantastic, peaceful stay!

Summary: The Gite was perfect and the location idyllic. Jo and Paul are quite the nicest people we have met and nothing was too much trouble. Had a lovely welcome pack of French bread ,wine, cheese and a lovely big bag of crisps, just what you need after a long journey. Heated swimming pool was superb and lovely pool surroundings. Highly recommended.

Summary: We had an excellent week at the gite of Jo and Paul. The gite is greatly suited and equipped with all you need. Good beds, great kitchen and cosy terras close to the pool. Summary: We spent 5 days at Poplar Gite and it was everything we had hoped for. Rustic French charm but clean and comfortable and well kitted out. The pool was a real bonus and kept the kids entertained for hours. We didn’t go out and about too much but it would be a good base from which to explore the area. It’s pretty remote so a car is essential, but it’s a perfect get away to relax in the sun.

Summary: The Geit was bright and comfortable with everything you could have needed. The owners we really welcoming and helpful with loads of suggestions for things to do and see. The gardens and pool were perfect for exploring, loads of character with the old farm buildings adding to the atmosphere. It is located close to lots of beautiful villages. Highly recommended.
