Positive: This a wonderful place to stay. It’s only a 10 minute bus ride from Shirakawa to Hirase Shirakawaguchi bus stop which is a one minute walk from Saluga Bamba. The hosts, Shoko and Kenji are a vey helpful, friendly, and generous couple. They made our stay one of the best we’ve had in Japan. The breakfast was amazing with home grown vegetables and mountain vegetables picked fresh daily. Truly amazing! And the outdoor onsen was great as well.

Summary: If you’re looking for a place that’s a bit off the beaten track, this place is for you.

Positive: This place is absolutely amazing!! Cozy, beautiful decor, incredible food. We loved the organic homemade food - the best food we had in Japan. Try the ginger pork and the fried chicken and the curry! Everything in the hostel/hotel was well planned and beautifully done. The onsen was so nice - so wonderful to see the stars in the night stay! And Yes, as mentioned, there are a few insects but they are harmless and infrequent. The owner Kenji is passionate about what he has created and he and his wife provide a special place.

Negative: Everything was awesome.

Positive: The owner has a strong core value for appreciating nature. The coziness and spaciousness were great. It wasn’t too far from Shirakawa-go. The dinner we had downstairs was exceptional! (It wasn’t included in our stay plan though.) The breakfast which was in the plan was great too.

Negative: Unfortunately the hot spring bath was too hot for my child, so it would’ve been better if there had been an alternative.
