Positive: We loved every single thing about our stay at Rodon Luxury Villas. What a beautiful estate, nestled in the hills of Skopelos island with a spectacular view of the Aegean, neighboring islands and the port city of Glossa. The sunset every night was breathtaking. The villas provide a luxurious front row seat to a beautiful Greek nighttime sky. Our stay was immediately elevated when we met the proprietor, Jerry, who not only owns the villas but designed, personally built and brought them to life. Jerry has such a warm presence – the epitome of Greek philotimo. It felt just like being welcomed into a friend’s home. Our villa was beautifully designed, thoughtfully laid out, and had everything an extended stay needs - a large fully equipped kitchen, dining and living areas, large bedrooms, amazing showers, and spacious porches with that perfect Aegean view. Each villa has plenty of room to accommodate large families. The property houses three individual, private villas accessed via a private, secure drive. The villas and all hardscape on the property were built from local limestone quarried from the site. The villas are surrounded by perfectly planned landscaping with flowering bougainvillea and other native plants, olive and plum trees. The butterflies flock to this beautiful site. Each Villa has its own private infinity pool overlooking the Aegean. The pool was perfectly located with comfortable lounge chairs and even an outdoor shower and bathroom. The pools are just like jewels when lit up at nighttime. Swimming at night felt like swimming in the Aegean itself. Every aspect of the property was meticulously thought out, planned and completed. No detail was overlooked in Jerry’s design of the villas. Just amazing!

Negative: More great stuff . . . The location is a quick 5-minute drive from Glossa, the nearest village and the port town where our ferry to the island docked. Glossa is just what you’d picture when you think of a Greek village – whitewashed homes built right into the hillside with colorful doors, beautiful churches, and stone paved streets. Jerry was kind enough to recommend places to eat and showed us where the grocery market was as well as a favorite bakery. We were especially glad to discovery the 24-hour bakery - that was our second most visited place on the island besides our villa. The villas are a short drive to the chapel of Agios Ionnis sto Kastri (Chapel of St. John), a stunning chapel perched atop a barren rock cliff on the island. According to legend, the chapel was built by the local community who carved steps into the rock to the top after visions led them to find an icon of St. John on the site. If you climb to the top, you’ll find a peaceful Greek chapel with beautiful wooden alter with icons. And, for movie fans, it is the site of the wedding in the 2008 Hollywood Mamma Mia movie. This was our first time visiting Skopelos with its native beauty, friendly people and crystal-clear waters, but it won’t be our last. We’ll be drawn back by the island’s beauty, its people, its history, the Rodon Luxury Villas, and Jerry. So much more to explore! We will definitely be back.
