Positive: the location was good! it is accessible to many restaurants and cafes, including the renowned rishiri ramen miraku. it is also near kutsugata park which is a really beautiful place to watch sunsets over the sea it’s an interesting and cosy place to stay in, with various amenities and artefacts collected by the owner, Yuki. I loved how it goes beyond a place to sleep in — you can read, meet people, watch movies, etc. lastly, I appreciated how Yuki took the effort to ensure we have a good experience here through providing recommendations, sharing food, etc. :) he is also fluent in english and well-versed in the history and culture of rishiri island so he’s a good person to go to if you have any related questions
Negative: the room can get hot in the afternoon (I was here from 23-26 Jul), but I think there are fans that are available for use. I spent the time in the library / movie room which was cooler due to its location in the house :)

Positive: Yuki, who runs this inn was fantastic. We learnt so much about life on the island, he gave us a mini tour around which gave us a different perspective from the cycle around. The inn is comfortable, with everything you need and a handful of restaurants near by.
Negative: Nobodies fault but the fishing announcements in the middle of the night are a bit annoying!
Summary: Fantastic experience, highly recommended

Positive: Cute little inn with nice rooms, comfy beds but the gold medal goes to the super friendly and helpful owner who seems super well connected on the island, gave many invaluable tips, was great fun to talk to at dinnertime and even prepared some rice for free for me to enjoy with my bought uni. He has an extensive collection of japanese pottery from all around the country, is knowledgeable about it and if you feel like buying it you can. If you need a place to stay without the hotel fuss but with a family like vibe, this is the place to go!
Negative: No a/c which was hard to bear for me but i am very heat sensitive and seem to have stayed during the hottest days of the year, so still 10/10. i think the inn needs some better means of ventilation.
Summary: Perfect stay

Positive: Yuki made our stay in Rishiri memorable and unique. We would 100% recommend anyone wishing to discover the « true » Rishiri to stay here. We were able to enjoy so many hidden gems thanks to Yuki. The inn is lovely, full of delicate treasures from all over the world. It is I deally situated (less than 5mn walking from an amazing Onsen and several delicious restaurants). Out of our 3 month travel in Japan, definitely one of the best experiences we had and the best host.

Positive: Antique Inn is that crucial travel itinerary element that will make your trip to Rishiri Island extra magical! The property is a treasure throve, not just of beautiful artifacts and decor from all over the world, but also of people who share the same love for travel—from the thoughtful globe trotting hosts himself, to the equally travel minded guests whom undoubtedly you’ll encounter during your stay. A warm welcoming place that offers a comfortable stay at a convenient location - short walking distance to a relaxing onsen, convenience store, market, cafes, restaurants, post office, and transportation pick-up/drop-off point for guided bus tours; unique insight and perspective about the island and its people; a varied menu of hosted activities - the sunset tour is highly recommended; and an overall dedication to provide an excellent and unforgettable travel experience. It’s a home away from home, and a place I would love to stay again!
Negative: I wish the inn is also available during non-summer seasons.

Positive: I was touring Hokkaido by bicycle and stayed in maybe 10 hotels during this trip. Many of them were nice and many of them were luxurious. This is the one I will remember in 20 years. It's all because of the exceptional friendliness and hospitality of the host. I say host. As he said, it's more of like a homestay experience than a hotel. I had read this in some of the reviews, and it's why I booked this particular place - the reviews said he was a cool guy that loved to chat as much as you felt like it, so that seemed appealing - especially since I was traveling alone. I thought it might be nice to have some folks to talk to. All I can say is that it was exactly what I was hoping it would be like. His place only ever has 3 rooms booked at any given time. When I was there, one other guest was also there. On one of the nights, our host (Yuki) made us dinner, which was outstanding. He wasn't trying to upsell anything, it was just Saturday night and he thought it would be fun for us to have a dinner together. He was very careful to offer space if you didn't feel like hanging out, but I was interested, so we ended up talking for a long time after dinner. His English is extremely good, so you can definitely have a deep conversation if you're in the mood for that. He also speaks or is learning a few other languages. He's just really interested in people, which is a great quality to have in a host. He's also really into traditional Japanese culture and food, as much as he's into learning about others, so he loves explaining or discussing aspects of Japan that you might have questions about. The Inn is a business, for sure, but he has a day job that he does remotely while running the inn, so he really seems to do it because he wants to meet interesting people and to share Japanese culture with like-minded people from other places.
Summary: An excellent traditional inn - large rooms, common space, near onsen, great host and vibe!

Positive: This traditional Japanese Inn offers a unique and authentic experience. The inn provides convenient shuttle service from the pier, making arrival and departure seamless. During my stay, I reserved an e-bike for a day, and the experience was fantastic—perfect for exploring the scenic surroundings. kitchen includes cooking utensils and a refrigerator, allowing guests to prepare simple meals or enjoy a personalized breakfast. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring a warm and welcoming stay. In the evening, visiting the nearby onsen was a delightful and convenient way to unwind.
Negative: The room’s door could use some attention; it would be great if it could slide more smoothly.
