Come escape to our small cottage located in the Rocky Bottom community surrounded by creeks, mountains & waterfalls. Very peaceful setting with a creek right outside your bedroom window. Home has a fire pit for making s’mores or cooking, charcoal grill, and picnic table. Convenient to many SC & NC hikes, 5 miles to Sassafras Mountain overlook, Twin Falls, Ceasar’s Head, Lake Jocassee, 12 miles to Table Rock. Great for Tubing, trout fishing, biking & white water rafting activities or, you can stay & enjoy the peace & quiet!!
This little home is a wonderful retreat in the beautiful Jocassee Gorge area. Located minutes from Sassafras Mountain and Jumping off Rock trails. You will enjoy just staying home and grilling and sitting by the fire-pit. The sound of the creek running in your back yard provides such a peaceful setting you will forget about all the busy every day life. The cabin is approx. 750 sqft. Bedroom has a queen sized bed and there is a single size day-bed in the living room with a single bed trundle underneath. There are pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, microwave, gas range/stove, table ice maker and refrigerator. Home was completely renovated in 2019 (except for the bathroom). There is AC and heat (split units). There is also a gas fireplace in the home for those very cold days. Wi-Fi is available and there is a smart TV with Netflix, Amazon video, Hulu, Disney+.
This is a spring-fed water system, so please bring your own drinking water. There is no garbage disposal, dishwasher, washer or dryer. There may be firewood there, if so you are welcome to use it. Since there is no washer or dryer, we don't provide any kind of towels.
Rocky Bottom is an unincorporated community located in northern Pickens County, South Carolina 16 miles north of Pickens, 7 miles south of Rosman, and 27 miles northwest of Greenville. Near the NC state line, on U.S. Highway 178 in the Blue Ridge Mountains, at an elevation of 1,750 ft. The Foothills Trail also makes its way through Rocky Bottom and there is an area for trail goers to park and experience the trail.
This serene home is perfect for unplugging and is in the middle of the mountains so there is no public transportation and the closest store is 20 minutes away. If you are not a nature lover this may not be your place. Nearest large grocery store is in Pickens so make sure you bring all you need. There is also a small grocery store and a laundry mat 15 minutes away in Rosman, NC for basic needs as well as a Dollar General. There are a couple of restaurants within a 15-20 minute drive but they close early. You can drive to Brevard in 30 minutes.
Please remember even though it has been remodeled it is still a very old home in the mountains so you will have floors that squeak and a few other things to that matter. We incorporated old items from before the remodel to add character to the home. We hope you enjoy our place as this is our favorite getaway. Also keep on mind this home is in a small community in the middle of no-where so please no loud parties. There is also a bear that comes around to visit every now and then, please make sure you don't leave food out!

Summary: This Rocky Bottom rental made for an incredible "base of operations" for my Wife and I's extended weekend getaway! The location was perfect for exploring towns in both North and South Carolina. The creek behind the bedroom was very peaceful sounding. The house stayed warm and toasty throughout our chilly stay as well! We will definitely be coming back!!
