Summary: We really liked this property for its location and Fernand is a very nice helpful man. We loved Zaandam and Amsterdam in general. The studio itself is a good size but there are aspects of it that could do with some attention. The decor is quite shabby and the kitchen really needs work. The crockery was piled up on the drainer which we found odd and not particularly clean. The shower was scalding hot and couldn't be adjusted. We should have mentioned this to Fernand really, the actual water was a decent pressure though. The toilet seat wasn't secure and kept sliding off so quite dangerous. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were old and lumpy. It was nice to have the roof terrace but again the chairs were shoddy and the terrace felt unfinished. Although the studio is actually quite clean it initially didn't feel like it because of some of the shabby decor. We ended up quite liking the studio and it is very well priced for Amsterdam with great transport links and local shopping and restaurants. We'd stay again if the shower and the other dangerous aspects were sorted. It's been mentioned in previous reviews that with a bit of work this place could be amazing and we agree but then the price might not be agreeable to some. Many thanks Fernand.

Summary: The owner is nice and thoughtful. The place is warm and well managed with complete needs provided. The surrounding area is safe and quiet even for late night. However, the owner is not using smartphone, adviceable to directly call his number. He will attend and waiting for check in. We enjoy our stay!

Summary: It was cleanish but shabby, linens looked old, dishes still on drainer, room smelled smoky. This room needs some TLC to be a beautiful little spot. The area is quiet, and if you can get past first and second impressions we were very comfortable. There was a lack of crockery and no toaster but the host quickly supplied it when asked which was great. Without a lot of expense it could be greatly improved. The bathroom has an unpleasant odour due to no ventilation which is not good. There is no lock on the apartment door, only at street level but there were workmen downstairs doing renovations who could have accessed our room so it didn’t feel at all secure bit hopefully that will only be temporary. We did enjoy the location very much and the room wasn’t bad, just could be so much better.

Summary: Good space, pretty close to Amsterdam via train. There was construction that started at about 7am on weekdays literally next door. Didn't like that you couldn't lock the room (you could lock the door to the outside, but we did notice someone else working downstairs - technically they could've come into our apartment room). No fan or aircon and it would get a bit warm even with windows open.

Summary: Easy access to train into Amsterdam. Also local trains to towns further out. Walking distance to restaurants and markets. Start and end your day enjoying the rooftop terrace. Don’t miss this opportunity to stay just a bit away from the tourist hotels and enjoy Fernand’s hospitality.
