Positive: Montalbano is a great location to access the national park as many spots within a shortish driving distance. The hotel was great. Loved the breakfast on the terrace and everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and spacious and elegantly furnished. Overall, I would return without hesitation and I would recommend hiking in the Alcantara gorge and visiting the woods of Malabotta with a guide.

Negative: The air con in the rooms was not working and although it is not too hot at night time due to the altitude of the village, I would have liked air con to help me sleep.

There are some good restaurants around. Simply: Go there, you will not regrett it.

Positive: Beautiful building, fantastic spacious bedroom, and a great terrace overlooking the castle. Natalia and Mariagrazia were incredibly helpful—wonderful hostesses and amazing with our baby. They provided a travel cot and a high chair, which made things so much easier for us. Breakfast was absolutely amazing!

Positive: Maria Grazia was an absolute delight! She helped us get everything we needed and wanted. She presented and prepared a complete and ample breakfast each morning and she got us a fan for the room at night. She was a wealth of information about the area ! Thanks to her our stay was amazing !

Negative: Wi-Fi wasn’t ideal but we weren’t really there for connectivity! We stayed I. The family suite which maybe was a bit big for us. (Only 3 of us) but it was great to be able to walk to everything and to enjoy the historic village center from our accommodation.

Positive: The palace is beautifully situated in the middle of the town. It is well decorated and the breakfast was one of the best ever. So much attention to detail.

Negative: Our room was close to the street and I could hear the noises of cars passing by but other than that there was nothing to complain.

Positive: Palazzo Restifa is particularly well-updated and beautifully restored grand home with a terrazza-with-a-view. Its manager is a most pleasant, attentive and helpful woman-of-the-house, which enhanced our stay. Montalbano Elicona is picturesque... "una dei piu belli borghi". Located right on the main piazza, restaurants and other needs are right at hand. It is obviously a cherished and historic town for those able to be gainfully employed there.
