Positive: The old guy at reception was the sweetest guy. Said his English wasn’t great but did an awesome job of explaining everything to us. It was a quaint, modest place that felt very welcoming. We got to set up our own futon instead of staff coming in and doing it for us. We Really enjoyed the privacy and it was a fun experience. View was amazing. We had a smoking room, it didn’t smell of smoke at all. Dinner offered was not your typical Ryokan, it had options like spaghetti bolognese. I loved it here.

Positive: The hotel is right next to the river and we got a room with river view. It's just 7 min walking to Minakami Station. The hotel has an indoor Onsen with river view. There are places to sit in the lobby, which are comfortable, there is also a piano to play. The staff, Mr Kageyama was extremely friendly and welcoming and we had a great stay. Thank you!

Negative: The hotel was a bit cold as it was in winter but turning up the aircon solved it for us.

Positive: The hotel is quite near Minakami station, about 5 minute walk. The facility meets my expectation. The owner also provides me with Yukata (and a Hanten because it's cold). The staff can speak English and very friendly. I try the first shared onsen here, this was quite an interesting experience.

Negative: The only drawback is you have to use shared toilets. Some guests do not keep this commonplace clean. Sometimes, the wifi is slow because many people are using it. This may cause the foreigner to feel uncomfortable but I live in Japan long enough to know that every Japanese has their own 4G/5G monthly data plan.

Summary: Nice choice to stay in Minakami to enjoy skiing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
