Hidden among the trees on a private piece of beach on Playa Negra is a luxurious house with five bedrooms with three king-size and two queen-size beds—Villa Caramar.
The living area is a twenty-two-foot high atrium with a stainless steel bridge linking the two sides of the second floor above. The first floor has two master suites with two bathrooms,inside and outside showers, and library with computer, Wi-Fi, and books. The media area has television and DVD player. The dining area features a long trestle table seating ten to twelve people. The kitchen offers Sub-Zero refrigerator, extra fridge, DCS stove, granite counters,dish washer, and wine cooler.
On the same level as the first floor is the pool deck which overlooks the ocean. It features a trapezoidal swimming pool with a double infinite edge plus deck chairs, loungers, table,and grill. Monkeys and birds visit the pool on a regular basis. On the lower level is a gym and ping pong room.
Ten to eleven people can enjoy Villa Caramar—there are five wonderfully-sized bedrooms. On the second level of the villa the bedrooms have spectacular views of the ocean and the surf break at Playa Negra from a wrap-around teak deck.
Villa Caramar is only thirty minutes from Tamarindo and an hour and ten minutes from the International Airport in Liberia.
We offer daily maid service and, for an extra fee, a cook. (Let us know in advance.) There are supermarkets nearby in Tamarindo and local markets in Playa Negra.

Summary: We were absolutely blown away by this amazing house!!! It is gorgeously designed and has been loved, updated, and well maintained throughout the years. It was spatious enough for 10 of us, 3 minutes walk away from the beach in Playa Negra. We loved the option of a daily cleaner (Ms. Maria was so sweet), and the property manager (who is also a master chef!) answered all our questions, from finding emergency medical help, to restaurants and adventures. We had a great time and would love to come back!

Summary: What a tremendous property and location with a terrific manager and cleaning service!! This was our 2nd time in the Guanacaste region, and Villa Caramar and Playa Negra will be on our agenda next summer. My wife and I brought our teenage kids, my mother in law (first time), and our best friends (also first time in CR) with their kids the same age. The house was more than roomy enough for us all. Emilia is awesome!! Her home cooked, locally sourced dinner the first night after traveling all day and breakfast the next morning was fantastic - the food was very delicious and she was very accomodating in terms of timing. After our delicious dinner she gave us a tour of the place and instructions for accessing the home and its details, getting maid service, etc. BTW - the cleaning folks were super efficient and thorough. The house design is amazing - with large rooms and kitchen and super comfortable beds and amazing pool / decks. The BBQ worked great, as did the stove and oven as we cooked some meals on our own. The pool was very refreshing after a day out or down on the beach. As long as you pay attention to the tide, the beach area is very safe and fun for the kiddos. We rented some awesome boogie boards / fins at the local Surf shop in nearby Los Pargos, where the Playa Negra Hotel Cafe and Jalapeño cafe is a great place for a meal, protein shake, coffee and such. Highly recommend having dinner @ Deveena and brunch/dinner at Mycelium in Los Pargos as well! Paradise!

Summary: We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful home in Playa Negra. The house is stunning, with amazing views and the most peaceful, private beach just steps away—it truly felt like paradise. Perfect spot for a family or group of friends looking to relax and reconnect.The setting is serene, the house is well-designed, and waking up and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean every morning was unforgettable. Emilia was incredibly kind and helpful—she met us when we arrived and made sure we felt right at home.A couple of helpful things to know: there’s no washer/dryer in the house - like it’s listed. Instead, the housemaid (Maria—who was great!) takes the laundry offsite and brings it back clean and quickly. It worked well, but there were times we wished we could do a quick wash or dry something ourselves.Also, be aware that you can’t flush ANY toilet paper at this property due to the septic system. This was new for us (even after two previous trips to Costa Rica), so it took a little getting used to.And lastly, the roads to the house are very rough—very typical for Costa Rica, but worth noting if you’re traveling with anyone who has back issues. The roads are 100% worth the quiet and private beach. That said, we would 100% stay here again. The house, the beach, the peace and privacy—it’s all unforgettable. Highly recommend!Close restaurants we absolutely loved — Lola’s, Cafe Playa Negra, BernarDos in Playa Junquillal.

Summary: Girls trip, 7 total. Great location, on the beach, with a 3- 5 minute access to swim. Pool was always clean and used daily when we were home. Emilia was also great arranging transportation to our requested destinations and roundtrip airport transfers. We did have one minor miscommunication but all was resolved. We did notice a few minor details of home that could be remedied. For example, rusted closed lock on sliding door to master, by pool. Upstairs queen master shower head fell off when adjusted. We were able to adjust to another door and replaced shower head to use. Othrwise, all was extremely clean, Accommodating and super comfortable. Would highly recommend and would definately stay again. Wildlidlfe at thisnhouse is also amazing with hundreds of butterflies, several iguanas, birds,hermit crabs and monkies. What a spectacular stay!!
