2 Bedroom Ski Chalet in Prospect Bay, West Pennant

While this secluded oceanfront chalet in West Pennant is just 25 minutes to the heart of Halifax, it feels like you're a million miles from any city. It's a very secluded old fishing village with lots of incredible outdoor experiences- canoeing, kayaking, hiking, swimming, etc.. The village has only a dozen homes, some of which are occupied only on a seasonal basis.

The newly constructed chalet is 1250 ft2 and has an open concept. It's hard to find a spot in the house without a magnificent view of the ocean- very few man made features in the view. The bow shaped house front is covered with south-facing windows. The downstairs has a small but full bathroom, a bedroom, a living room, dining room and full kitchen with granite counter tops, custom furniture, exotic hardwood floors, copper accents and lots more.

The upstairs is completely open with a claw foot tub, double bed, open bathroom, and great empty loft/sun area that's ideal for yoga, napping, reading, drawing, etc..

If you're looking for privacy, peace of mind, and the ocean, this is the place for you. We've never had an unhappy visitor (given that they showed up happy)!

Summary: My family and I stayed for a week at this beautiful property. Looks exactly like the pictures. Gorgeous views of the ocean and so private. Chalet is equipped with everything you need. We loved waking up to the views each morning. Thank you John for sharing your little piece of heaven.

Summary: My two children and I stayed at John’s beautiful oceanfront chalet. From the moment we started planning our holiday, John was extremely helpful and accommodating. The place was easy to find and the drive was absolutely beautiful. Upon arrival we could tell that much care and effort is put into the chalet and landscaping. There is a beautiful view of the ocean and it is completely surrounded by nature. My children loved playing in the little tree house and running through the trails. We spent most of our time exploring the lovely area where the chalet is located. We really enjoyed the wharf down by the ocean. It was a perfect spot to enjoy the sun, have a coffee, a picnic or a glass of wine. My children loved searching for interesting stones and shells beside the wharf. The inside of the chalet is gorgeous and we instantly felt at home. I had asked John for the double bed and he made sure that this was set up and ready for my kids. There were books to read and games that we played in the evening. The main level also has a beautiful sitting area and table overlooking the ocean. We had many great evening suppers watching the ever-changing sky/ocean. There was plenty of space for our luggage and clothes. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. Thank you for sharing your incredible spot with us.

Summary: There is something magical or very special about this property. The setting is peaceful and very private. The ocean is front and centre – we actually managed to swim just about every day. The huge wharf that is built seemingly right out over the ocean allows for incredible views, wonderful sun tanning (sunscreen in hand…) and romantic meals – breakfast, lunch or dinner. The house itself is clean and with a wall of windows looking towards the ocean offers unforgettable views from virtually every room in the house (my favorite being the view from the Iron Cast Tub ( full of Hot H2O ) on the 2nd floor. The corner store at Sambro offers takeout food, groceries, its own liquor store and friendly locals. The short drive into Halifax was picturesque (we took the Old Sambro route) and meant great restaurants, cultural events and shopping were but 20 minutes by car but seemingly a world away. We loved this place and I am certain we will be staying there again. What a great and affordable getaway.

Summary: We had a lovely week at this cottage. It is in a truly beautiful, quiet, secluded location, with gorgeous views and walks all around. It is only 20 minutes from the main motorway system on NS so is also a good base for exploring the area. The owner John is very helpful and accommodating and sorts out any problems instantly. The property and grounds are unique and will offer you an unforgettable experience. Furnishings and equipment are comfortable and homely, and the design of the cottage is quite stunning, with huge windows on two levels looking out over the cove. Pretty much everything you need will be there for you. I would recommend renting a bike and canoe to get the most out of your stay. Highly recommended.

Summary: We've stayed here twice while visiting family in Halifax. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. We have two kids and the land surrounding the cottage is a children's paradise. They really love it there. The best thing about the cottage for us are the windows and the beautiful view. Great place, can't recommend it enough, owner is great to deal with too.

Summary: This was a nice house in a peaceful setting. It was well appointed and the owner provided everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I very much enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the sun set, and enjoying the quiet. The outdoor landscaping is natural and yet very artistic. And I loved awaking to an view of the ocean every morning. Even the misty mornings were perfect. One day, I went into town (Halifax) and by the end of the day I was definitely ready to return to the serenity of West Pennant.
