1 Bedroom Condo in Punaluu, Hau'ula

Note: This building is currently undergoing renovation work, so sometimes it's noisy (weekdays, 8-5 only - the hours that most guests are out enjoying the island). The work will not be constant, depends on weather and what part of the building they're doing. Also, depending on where the work is taking place, you may not be affected at all. If you choose to make reservations and find the noise not to be acceptable, please contact me before your departure and a full refund will be issued for the number of nights that you departed before your scheduled checkout date.
Oahu is called the 'Gathering Place' and is home of Waikiki, Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor. The windward side retains the subtle feeling of old Hawaii, a Hawaii before the multi-story hotels and condos of Waikiki and the urban traffic, hustle and bustle of Honolulu. It still has that wonderful sense of 'Aloha' that you are welcomed as a friend.
Pat's at Punalu'u is about 30 miles from Waikiki and the Honolulu International Airport. The condo sits on a private, reef-protected beach, which is great for kids. The water is about waist to chest deep along the beach and is excellent for snorkeling. There is also a fresh water swimming pool, and outdoor shower.
You are 45-minutes from the nightlife of Waikiki or snorkeling at Hunauma Bay.
Our one-bedroom "end unit" with a huge wrap-around lanai can accommodate up to five guests. It has a full-size kitchen and a washer and dryer...though you will probably be "living" in T-shirts, shorts and swimsuits. The condo has ceiling fans, smart TV, cable TV, books to read - including guidebooks to Hawaii. We provide beach chairs, towels, a beach umbrella, ice chest and other items for your trips to the beach. All you need is your sunscreen and swimsuits.

Summary: Property was under renovation. This was made clear before renting. Did not bother us at all. The location, view, and cool vibe of area made up for it and we had a relaxing, wonderful time. Owner was very helpful and friendly. Gave us tips on area and places to eat. We took advantage of local eateries and well-known local places like Tamura’s grocery, Kaya’s Market across the street, Ling’s Drugs, Foodland, and Papa Ole’s. Our third stay at Pat’s and we will be back. Wonderful wrap around patio has great views of water and mountains. Hiked nearby Hau’ula loop trail. Great. We will be back!

Summary: When arriving at the property, we were skeptical. Construction and some aspects of the street-side view of the building were unappealing. But the inside is lovely and you just can't beat the view of the wrap around lanai. Then you go to the beach and forget all about any other underwhelming feature. The beach is beautiful and mellow, perfect for swimming. Turtles made a regular appearance. Also, this location is PERFECT for avoiding the millions of island tourists. The local food is fantastic-try the taro hut for great burger, hauula barbecue for some Korean and local grindz, and Crouching Tiger for upscale experience. They're all within a 20 minute drive. lanai

Summary: Great location! You’re not close to the tons of traffic of Waikiki and easy 30 min to Shark’s Cove and North Shore Beaches! Lots of close great food trucks, Polynesian Cultural Center, and Gunstock Ranch for riding. Having the beach right at your door step and listening to the waves crash with the wonderful breeze was incredible! We also saw lots of turtles just 20 yards or less off the beach!!

Summary: The property host was so responsive to any questions or needs that we had from the time we made our reservation and all throughout our stay. It is an older building, however the unit is updated, the grounds (pool, lawns, picnic tables) are wonderful, and it is right on the beach! Great value! The location was perfect, easy and quick access to North shore beaches, PCC, Kaneohe and so much more laid back than Honolulu. The airport was a 45 minute drive. Grocery store in Laie nearby where we got groceries and enjoyed making some meals at home (and saving some money by doing so) We would definitely stay here again when we visit Oahu!

Summary: This is a old property with a good location, right on the beach. There is noisy construction going on. The host is very helpful. I was unable to open the door due to a rusted keypad, and she fixed it right away. The unit needs several repairs, including clogged drains, non-working remotes, non-working sliding door. But you can swim with turtles and do some fish watching, so good overall.
