Positive: Beautiful historic property, superb staff, great location and delicious breakfast! Even before we arrived, we had communicated with the hotel who helped us arrange airport transportation (at our own cost), very nice after a more than 14 hour flight. The main manager (Faisil - I think that is how it is spelled), was super nice and helpful, even meeting us at our taxi to walk us through the chaotic maze of Old Delhi. He even made suggestions - such as the super old historic and delicious Kulfi shop close by. Our time in Delhi was enhanced by staying at Neem Haveli. It is also quite peaceful for sleeping compared to the chaos just a few blocks away. Rooms, beds, bathroom are all very nice and comfortable and quiet. The location is great, just a short walk to the Delhi metro (Chatri Bazaar station). Across the street from the hotel is Kathika - a cultural center and museum that is owned by the same owner. Initially I thought it was a little expensive at R1,500, but we had a superb experience at the museum, so it was more than worth it! They have so many exhibits on old Delhi life, and the neighborhood as well as performances/ and cultural experiences. We actually met the owner who told us the story of his inspiration of why he decided to restore these 2 old Havelis. They did a terrific job.

Negative: Really, there is absolutely nothing I did not like. The property and museum/ cultural center both exceeded my expectations by far! Note: this hotel has no elevator or parking - but I think that is not something the average traveler should expect from any historic property in Old Delhi.

Summary: Excellent/ superb! Absolutely exceeded my expectations! Excellent, caring staff!

Positive: The place is very small old palace located in the core of the old town. Room is gorgeous

Negative: Everything was perfect but is in the middle of the old town so you need to be prepared for real Delih

Positive: Comfortable, great looking room. The museum opposite is well worth checking out. Very peaceful inside, given the chaos area the hotel is located in. We didn't have time for breakfast, but the hotel provided a pack up for us.

Negative: The shower was fine, but the water didn't drain and the whole bathroom was soaked. There was no restaurant, so we had to venture out to get dinner. I realise it must have cost a fortune to fix up the Haveli but I do think the room was expensive for the area and facilities.

Positive: Delightful bolthole with all the chaos of old Delhi on the doorstep. We loved the character of this heritage property, Its central courtyard with giant Neem tree and the Kathika cultural centre next door with its interesting array of antiques and collectibles. The room was very comfortable and well equipped with lovely stained glass windows . We appreciated the warm welcome from David, his efficient and helpful communications prior to our stay and the kind invitation to join in the cultural evening featuring live music and delicious food which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Negative: We found the heritage tour to be overpriced for what amounted to nothing more than an accompanied walk so I would advise exploring the area yourself. We were also a little surprised that on leaving Faisal asked us to pay for the tuk tuks. As we had paid for airport transfers we felt that these should have been included in the cost. It was not a lot in monetary terms but rather the principle of the matter. However these were minor blips in what was otherwise an excellent stay

Positive: Neem Haveli is a haven of peace located within Delhi old city. The interior court is beautifully decorated and faithfully renovated based on the original architecture of the building. The rooms are large and comfortable and have touches of amazing decoration such as the door locks. I am extremely grateful to our host Faisal who was kind in all manners and was willing to support us in restaurant suggestions, guided tours in Delhi and was always attentive to make sure that we reached the hotel and the airport safely and on-time.

Negative: Not the fault of Neem Haveli but Neem Haveli is not accessible by car. As the streets are very narrow. One must take a Ricksha or walk for about 300 meters from the closest accessible point to the car.
