Summary: We came to Mecenate Palace early on a hot day. I had requested early check in previously via email but they said it depends on availability so I didn’t have high hopes but oh boy were they kind! They let us check in way early which was great since we were so hot and tired from travel there. The building is a bit older with odd but useful things like a phone in the bathroom, an emergency ringer in the shower and doorbells as well as the usual room safe, mini fridge, supplies for tea and instant coffee with real ceramic tea cups and saucers and glasses for water as well as more in the bathroom. There is a bidet and a handheld as well as wall shower in the bathtub. The room are appointed with marble counter tops and floors. There is a bottle opener in the mini fridge and teaspoons on the teacups. Location is great. Across the street from a grocery store and convenient to the train station. The rooftop restaurant has a breakfast room and also a rooftop bar with fantastic views.

Summary: Disappointing service and unreliable Wi-Fi. The check-in experience was pleasant — the receptionist who welcomed us was warm and professional. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay didn't match. A different receptionist later told us food wasn't allowed in the rooms (fine, though staff had approved it earlier that same day) and, when I politely asked why, told me I needed to "respect" the place and because she "says so" — in a condescending tone that was completely uncalled for. The in-room Wi-Fi then stopped working entirely. When I called reception, the same staff member was dismissive and practically hung up on me. The person sent to help turned off my phone's airplane mode, connected to my personal mobile data, loaded a page on my own cellular network after several tries, declared the Wi-Fi "fixed," and left. The hotel Wi-Fi remained poor throughout the stay — a real problem for international travellers who depend on it. The location and initial welcome were nice, but the staff attitude and Wi-Fi issues left a bad taste. I'd expect much better communication and problem-solving from a hotel of this standard.

Summary: The location of the hotel is very good, being in front of the Basilica and 5min walk from the central station. The hotel interior is quite old and ok maintained. Quality price is ratio is not there. The view of the roof top terrace is stunning, but the prices for drinks are out of mind. (eventhough the cocktails are very good) The restaurant is good, but even here the quality price ratio is not balanced. There is far better food in Rome and surroundings for far lower prices, but without the stunning view. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

Summary: This is my go to hotel in Rome. Easy walk to train station and about a 20 minute walk to any tourist site. Friendly staff and the atmosphere and decor are great. Breakfast on the rooftop each morning is great! Room is comfortable and has fridge and tea kettle. Bathroom had great water pressure and lots of hot water. Lots of bars and restaurants near by. I can’t wait for my next trip!

Summary: Good old world hotel close to train station with an old world feel and amenities Works as a base to explore Rome but the area around the hotel is full of aggressive vendors and a lot of crackheads in the street after dark so that was not great. Rest was ok. Taxis were easy to find and station was very easy to access- 5 min walk

Summary: The hotel is a palace and the staff is great. The room was clean but the rug was worn-out. There's also an alarm to ward off birds that goes off constantly starting at 6 am which is annoying. The view from the rooftop is breathtaking.
