Positive: Masseria Verbena turned out to be the perfect place for a few days’ relaxation. We experienced silence, family atmosphere and delicious food. The children loved the pool and the five friendly cats hanging around. It’s also a great base for exploring nearby towns. We were very sad to leave.

Positive: An idyllic spot in the Puglian countryside among olive groves and zucchini fields. Conveniently located to visit the many magical spots in the area. It is a beautiful space and the family who runs it could not be more helpful or kind. The Masseria is beautifully and tastefully decorated. Our family loved every moment spent there and we were sad to go.

Positive: This place achieves something of the impossible -- a remote getaway that isn't too remote, offering easy access to all the key sights in the region. It's a dream of a place to stay. Emilio, Julia, and Roberto worked hard to create a place out of the ruins from another era. The masserias of Puglia were once farmhouses, fortified to withstand various invasions across the years. Over time they fell into disuse and began to crumble, so this is a bit of history that might have otherwise have disappeared if not for a lot of diligence and care. In and around the restored complex are elements from that past: antique saws, drills, farming tools, irrigation channels, unexpected staircases, large glass wine demijohns all woven elegantly into the private rooms and public spaces. Everything tells a story, and the hosts have plenty to tell if you're interested. They've been renovating the place for years, and aren't done yet, protecting the past even while they modernize. They grow food in their own gardens, pesticide free. Many of the nearby olive trees are hundreds of years old. The rooms are large, very clean and comfortable. The large pool is warm and slightly salty. We were anxious to see all the famous sights in nearby towns: The Trulli houses in and around Alberobello, the coastal town of Monopoli, the white walls of Ostuni on the hill -- everything about 20 - 30 minutes drive. The owners offer helpful introductions and provide all kinds of insights you might not otherwise have known about. The more you listen and learn the richer the experience. The quiet welcoming calm of Masseria Verbena is always bubbling under the surface with ideas and insights, thanks to the enthusiasm of the owners. Don't miss the meals. Their breakfasts & dinners are fantastic. Very welcoming, anazing hosts, so much so we didn't want to leave after 3 nights. Highly recommended. We look forward to going back.

Positive: The website and photos simply don’t capture the full magic of Masseria Verbena. This place is truly divine and made our stay in Puglia unforgettable. Emilio, Giulia, and Roberto are some of the kindest, most welcoming hosts we’ve ever met. Each morning began with a delightful breakfast, and the saltwater pool was the perfect place to unwind. The location is ideal, just 6 minutes from the beach and 12 minutes from Monopoli. Staying here was the highlight of our trip. Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable experience!
