Summary: Hotel did not do breakast - thought I had booked bed and breakfast. Turned on the evening to be told they don't do evening meals, member of staff pointed to a microwave and toaster and referenced a shop that was closed to buy stuff. Next evening, a saturday, they were serving evening meals was told they did server evening meals. Whether they only seve meals at the weekend or short staffed I don't know.

Summary: Self contained, had toaster, kettle, microwave and refrigerator. Slight draw back is the vacuum sanitary system that makes noise when you use the toilet, sink or shower.

Summary: This is such a lovely hotel! The room was beautiful, the bed was lovely and soft, and the bathroom was clean with a bath and shower. The room was above a pub which was handy for a drink, but we had no problems with noise whatsoever. There is a small shop right next door for essentials. The location is rural so it was nice and quiet, even the music from the pub was turned down by 10pm. Lots of lovely walks nearby and some really interesting history on the doorstep! Lumphanan is a really quaint and pretty town, with nice views and walks, everyone we spoke to was very friendly, we were given a leaflet with info about local walks and history which was a very nice touch. Aberdeen and stonehaven are about 45 min drive away, so was handy for a day out. Check in and check out were nice and easy, and the staff were so helpful with organising taxi numbers and settling us in. We deffintely plan on staying here again!

Summary: Hotel was comfortable and clean. Lady who checked us in was very helpful. However, we were looking for a hotel in Banchory, and Macbeth Arms was 10 miles away. Also, no cooked breakfast was included. Before I booked, the website said I could cancel up to the day before; after I paid, it said the payment was non-refundable. Otherwise, we enjoyed the stay, it was quiet and we had two good nights sleep.ui
