Positive: What an unforgettable experience! This place is a true haven of peace, far from the hustle and bustle of Arugam Bay. An idyllic setting overlooking the lake, surrounded by nature and wildlife… and above all, a truly wonderful family : kind, caring, and incredibly generous. From the chalet, we could even see wild elephants by the lake, an absolutely magical sight. We were also lucky enough to go on a safari in Kumana National Park with them : without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and memorable experiences of our stay in Sri Lanka. We were incredibly fortunate to see water buffalo, a leopard, elephants, deer, countless birds, and much more. We also shared a touching and authentic moment with them at the temple, something we’ll never forget. The cabins are built with deep respect for the surrounding nature, in perfect harmony with their values. The chalets offer breathtaking views, and the meals (both breakfasts and dinners) were lovingly prepared and absolutely delicious. A heartfelt thank you for your warm welcome, your generosity, and your humanity. You are truly special people, and this place reflects that : simple, genuine, and deeply inspiring.

Positive: Wow. The location of this place is very remote and it takes a while to get there via a very bumpy road but the place is absolutely worth it. The views are stunning and you can literally watch elephants and birds in the distance from your bed. Everything was extremely clean and although I have to admit I was sceptical when I first saw the shower, it happened to be one of the most fantastic showers I have had in Sri Lanka. The bed was very comfortable and the balcony is really convenient if you want to chill and watch sunset or sunrise. The room does get quite hot during the day but you have a fan that worked ok for us. The hosts are so kind and helpful. They served us a nice dinner and breakfast that we had while looking over the lake. In the morning they also gave us a small tour in the jungle and showed us some leopard footprints. We only stayed for a night as it was quite unplanned but definitely worth driving there for the experience!

Negative: As mentioned it does get pretty hot during the day. Other than that absolutely nothing bad.:)

Positive: the cabins are located just south of arugambay but still far enough into the jungle that you don’t see or hear anything of the city life. There were elephants, monkeys and peacocks around when we were here, the owner said sometimes the leopards also come very close. It’s a beautiful little cabin with a balcony under on which you can enjoy the night under a sky full of stars! It was amazing!!

Negative: nothing, everything was perfect!

Positive: It’s such a special place and we will definitely be back! The staff is very helpful and accomodating. The area is just unreal, you can spot elephants at sunset and sunrise and there are horses roaming around at all times. The rooms are spacious and they all have balconies facing the beautiful lake

Positive: The Homestay is in the middle of nature but only 20 min Away from Arugam bay 🌿🦎 The Family who lives there is super lovely, the Host even showed us around the area and we saw Leopard and crocodile prints, we learned a lot from him that day. And of course the view from the huts is really beautiful. The Elephants you can See from the balcony and the Stars at Night truely makes staying here a once in lifetime experience. 10/10 would very much recommend 💕☺️

Positive: The location and staff were amazing. The cabanas are in the jungle overlooking a lake where elephants came to drink and play in the water. The host too us for a jeep ride to the other lake to see crocodiles and other birds and animals at no charge. Cinner and breakfast was excellent and very reasonably priced.

Negative: Some of the facilities aren't quite finished and when finished will add significantly to the overall stay. Signage from the main road needs to be more prominent.

Summary: Amazing location with staff who go out of their way to help guests to enjoy this unique experience.

Positive: We had a wonderful stay in these small jungle cottages located in a peaceful Sri Lankan village — the best part is definitely the location! While Arugam Bay is full of energy and action, this place offers a calm and natural retreat just close enough to everything. The cottages are close to each other, but still private — you don’t see your neighbors, though you might hear some jungle sounds. We even saw elephants and crocodiles nearby! Communication with the local staff and people living on the villa was excellent — warm, helpful, and welcoming.

Negative: However, there was some confusion regarding payment due to a misunderstanding with the person we were messaging on WhatsApp. It’s clear that this is not a hotel, and not having air conditioning is totally understandable for a place like this. However, I’d like to mention that even with a fan, staying inside the cottage during the day can be quite difficult, so we usually went to the beach during the daytime.

The design of the Cabanas are simple and yet stylish, with open doors that let the jungle breeze flow through. It’s quiet, natural, and incredibly relaxing.
