Positive: We absolutely loved our stay! The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel at home from the very first moment, welcoming us with fresh mango juice and genuine warmth. Every morning, we enjoyed a delicious local breakfast cooked by the wife, served whenever we preferred, in their beautiful tree house overlooking the lake. They also helped us discover less touristy (and less pricey) activities in the area, washed our laundry without hesitation, and even organised a cooking class, despite never having hosted one before, upon our request for learning how to make kotthu. It was such a fun, memorable experience. This homestay is truly special!

Positive: Beautiful peaceful property, Gamini and his family were so helpful from picking us up at the train station even though we were at a station further away than planned, to organising activities and tours and getting us back to the train at 4am. The food was exceptional and the room very clean, would highly recommend

Negative: Is secluded which is beautiful but means you are further away from things. The owner has a tuk and is more than happy to drive you where you want to go.

Positive: Great place, super clean. Food was amazing and had a great breakfast on the look out over the lake. Super relaxing and quiet place very close to national parks kaudula and minneriya. Owner however texting us in the middle of the night to rewrite an already good review otherwise it would have been great and probably a ten.

Positive: Great service and very helpful hosts. They (a couple) offered and organized for us: Safari, Pollonnaruwa trip and transport to Ella. All at affordable prices. The man is a guide and tuktuk driver, the lady cooks very well :) The location is somewhat far from the main landmarks, but the hosts drive us with tuktuk - no problem. The view from the garden is relaxing and beautiful (the lake and buffalos).

Positive: This was my most welcoming and comfortable stay I have been at in Sri Lanka. Gaminij and his wife really went out of their way to accomodate us in every way possible. They were always available for questions, rides, good advice, and lots of good food. The place is beautiful, sweet and cozy, perfect for a calm and relaxed stay. I cannot recommend it enough.

Positive: A beautiful homestay with sunset views over the lake. We loved the Breakfast served in a tree house each day. Very clean and comfortable air conditioned rooms with big beds with mosquito nets (didn’t see mosquitos though). Gemani and his wife were such kind and accomodating hosts. They gave us welcome drinks and the most beautiful meals, fresh fruit & juices. They had our favourite traditional SriLankan foods, but there were western foods too. The curry’s had just the right amount of spice for our aussie taste buds with optional chilli toppings to spice it up. Fresh bread, fresh fruit, cold drinks. Everything we could possibly want and very generous servings. Even very cold beer and soft drinks. It became our home away from home after big days exploring. Highly recommend staying here. Thankyou

Gamini and his wife went above and beyond with their hospitality, from the delicious dinner to their help in arranging local excursions, everything was handled with such care. What made my experience even more special was their genuine kindness. We loved our conversations with them about Sri Lanka, our own countries, families, and so many other topics. It felt less like staying at a guesthouse and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. I can’t recommend it highly enough and would love to return again in the future. Positive: We had an extremely great time at Lake Wind Homestay. The owners gave us the warmest welcome and showed incredible hospitality throughout our whole stay. The breakfast was absolutely incredible, such as the dinner options which are delicious, abundant and at fair prices. The homestay is very clean, comfortable, and well equipped (AC, hot water, mosquito net, shared fridge and kettle). The environment is peaceful and beautiful; we spent quite some time observing the diverse wildlife roaming around the lake. The owners have thorough knowledge of the region, and good contacts for (cheap) safaris and scooter rental. They were very helpful on many levels, and even drove us to the bus stop at the end of our stay. We definitely recommend staying at Lake Wind Homestay. We had originally booked 2 nights and ended up extending one more. Our stay was an amazing local life experience, and one of the highlights of our trip!
