Positive: The property of La Anita Rain Forest was exceptional, the food was good, the rooms were very comfortable and Pablo was an excellent host. We especially enjoyed the chocolate tour.

Negative: We found because of the lack of windows in the cabanas, the units were a bit too close together, as conversations from other units were very easily heard, whether they were inside or on their porch. The road getting there is exceptionally rough.

Summary: Lovely property, exceptionally clean and great Hosts. Rough road, but worth the stay

Positive: Fantastic cacao farm which supports its community with great staff. Amazing wildlife, walks and food.

Negative: It is a long way from everywhere - or rather it feels like it is, as the road to get there is pretty potholed! Once there, this falls away as it is stunning!

Summary: Fantastic, well-run location with amazing chocolate to boot!

Positive: We loved our stay here at La Anita Rain Forest! The property is STUNNING. Pablo and Ana are fantastic hosts and the kitchen staff are incredible at what they do! Shout out to Raquel at reception for ensuring that everything is taken care of. The property has hiking trails, we took the Tapir Trail and the Araña trail and saw many wildlife (make sure you wear hiking boots and pants as there are snakes). Between the two trails, I highly recommend the Araña trail - it is spectacular and follows along the river. There's two dogs on the property, they are so adorable and friendly! They even joined us on the Araña trail and made the experience even more special. The cabin itself is just wow. Amazing craftsmanship. I loved falling asleep to the sounds of the critters at night. There's a good amount of ground staff that work very very hard to maintain the beautiful landscape here.

Negative: Wifi connection. No connection at all in the cabins. Although we love the idea of disconnecting, we do enjoy researching wildlife sightings / work out logistics for the following day before bed however wifi only works around the parking lot/reception area of the property.

Positive: Real family run Cacao plantation and chocolate factory. Breakfast and dinner were great - ranch style. The chocolate tour was incredibly educational and eye opening to the history of chocolate. The accommodation was really good and we slept well without windows (just screens) - wonderful rainforest experience. Horse riding was arranged for us absolute beginners..

Negative: Despite excellent instructions on how to get there we still managed to take a ‘shortcut’ over a mountain track in our 2 wheel drive car. We discovered the button called ‘descent control’ and that helped us arrive safely. Stick to the main roads.

Positive: After a month in Costa Rica, this was one of our highlights. It is a beautiful, well kept property. We loved the main eating area and cabins. The chocolate tour was wonderful! We enjoyed the area and walked the trails- lots of birds! Even the gift shop was good - with reasonable prices!

Negative: The only negative were the roads getting to the property. All good except the last 10 km or so.

Summary: A unique stay in beautiful surroundings.
