Positive: This property was in a brilliant location for the Matlock Christmas Market. We also visited the waterfall in nearby. Lumsdale. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. The rooms were really comfortable. We would definitely recommend it. 😊

Positive: We enjoyed the food and the staff were lovely and very welcoming. The room was spotless, the towels were the best we’ve experienced and there was a good tea making facility. We enjoyed our stay.

Negative: Unfortunately we found the mattress too hard since one of us has a spinal problem. Not the fault of the hotel, but made sleeping difficult. The room was quite small with a sloping ceiling. We banged our heads when trying to sit up in bed. Not much the hotel can do about the room we stayed in.

Positive: The pub was warm and welcoming with a number of open log fires. There is 3/4 different sitting/eating areas. Unfortunately there are no vegan options on the menu. The chef did make a basic vegetable chilli with rice. I was pleased that the chef got me some vegan sausages for breakfast. I also had a large mushroom and some cherry tomatoes on the vine. No beans or hash browns. Not a ‘full’ breakfast.

Negative: I chose this pub as it has a historical past. Unfortunately there were no references to its past in the pub. I had to google it to find information, which was very interesting.

Summary: Staff members were friendly and helpful. Quiet night and a good sleep.
