I am serious STOP, book this property now. Welcome back, now that you have secured your reservation, I can now regale you with all of the reasons you have never had hospitality this amazing before. They are Mr. Pete, Elisabete, Ana, Leon, Lucy, Bouy, and the rest of the amazing staff at Idonea. They all treasure and appreciate their guests and you feel it from the moment you make the reservation as all communication is timely and thorough, to when you arrive and are greeted by Mr. Pete, to when you wake up every morning to the most delicious breakfast with freshly picked fruit from the garden and eggs from the resident chickens. All this awaits you daily with a smile along with a myriad of other experiences on property that leave your mind, body and soul fed. If what you are looking for in a property is quiet tranquility, exquisite views, beautiful and comfortable rooms and apartments where every detail has been artfully, and thoughtfully planned to ensure your relaxation, then Idonea will make you feel like you have been transported into a beautiful enchanted land of pure bliss. When we visit again the plan is to stay for a month because five days was simply not enough time to enjoy the hospitality of Idonea, and the beautiful island of Sao Miguel. Thank you Idonea for making the first leg of our Portugal holiday an experience that we will treasure forever.

Positive: We had an exceptional stay and could not recommend this place highly enough. The house is beautifully maintained, spotless, and extremely comfortable, with everything needed for both short and longer stays. It truly felt like a home away from home. The location is peaceful and relaxing, yet perfectly positioned for exploring São Miguel — having a car made it very easy to reach all the main attractions on the island. What really stood out was the excellent care and attention from the host. Communication was always prompt, friendly, and genuinely helpful. Any questions were addressed immediately, and it was clear that guest comfort was a top priority throughout our stay. The atmosphere of the property is calm and welcoming, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the island’s incredible nature. We felt very well looked after from start to finish. Overall, a flawless experience. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it without hesitation to anyone visiting São Miguel.

Positive: It was truly a great experience. The host Pete is gracious, attentive, funny and memorable as are the resident dog and cats. The view and set-up is great and the location is very practical for exploring Furnas, Lagoa do Fogo, Lagoa do Congo and other locations on the Eastern part of the island. Breakfast was great with Pete's creative presentation and fresh ingredients from the property. The ambiance was very relaxing with a pool with a beautiful ocean view and a fascinating garden to explore.

Positive: Elisabete and Pete make you feel at home, breakfast is over the top, fresh fruit, yogurt, home made granola, and made to order eggs. Which are from the farm right on Idonea. May I add Pete is a famous Chef. We will be back with friends as its the perfect location to the furnas and other tourist attraction. Hanging out at the pool and sunset are a 10*. I felt very comfortable here, Love Lucy(rescue cat) and Bouy (rescue dog). Pete also has a full garden, farm to table in the high season. Everything exceeded my expectation

Negative: That I had to leave.

Positive: Idonea is a dreamy, peaceful place. Elisabete and Isabel were so warm and hospitable to us during our stay. Nothing felt fake or stiff here. We rested, enjoyed our sumptuous daily breakfast, and soaked in the beauty of the view and grounds. Our studio apartment was clean, spacious, well-outfitted, private, and super comfortable. We explored about 3/4 of the island, but kept returning to the Furnas area, which is only about 15 minutes away from Idonea. This worked to our benefit because it meant spending less time driving around to different places. We would return to Idonea in a heartbeat.

Negative: Nothing, it was perfect.

Positive: Idonea is a little bit of paradise! We came to celebrate a special birthday & this was the perfect way to do it, invigorating & relaxing. Elisabete took amazing care of us both on property & off arranging dinner reservations, suggesting sites & beaches & more. Elisabete & Isabel provided a delicious full breakfast daily along with their warmth & friendly personalities. You will want a car to stay here, but once you have that,this is the perfect place to stay, fabulous views, excellent food, great hospitality, lovely rooms, infinity pool & secure parking. Most highly recommend Idonea!

Positive: Pete and his staff were great hosts and Pete was also a great guide with insights on all the local sites. The facility was outstanding; clean, roomy, quite and had incredible views. We loved walking the garden and relaxing by the pool. Breakfast was excellent with most items grown on the property.

Negative: There is nothing negative to say about the facility, location or staff. It is off the beaten path a bit, but if you're looking to relax and get away, then that works in your favor

Positive: We had a wonderful stay in the new apartment-style accommodation on the property: the apartment is spacious, has all mod cons and high quality furnishings. It is set-up for socialising - with an open kitchen with stools around an island and tables/seating on both verandas. The hot tub on the upper veranda was a lovely way to end the day during our stay. The entire property is lovely, especially the infinity pool with views of the ocean overlooking the gardens. Pete is a fantastic, approachable host - with lots of information about the area.

Positive: The apartment (Studio in the main area) and overall Idonea "paradise" really offers the best one can dream of - 1. Pool with a nice ocean & garden view. 2. Bed with a view at garden, pool & ocean 3. The warm & easy going conversations with landlord & team. They are always there for you and make you feel privilaged, but almost as a part of the "family". 4. Equipment- very good quality & nice design 5. Location - close (by car) to Furnas, close to Vila Franca do Campo,

Negative: 1. Being realistic - really really pricy - but hey - it's everyone's choice (you will get the luxurious feel and all the positives for sure). Definitely not for everyone and from my perspective twisting the market price unnecessarily. (1.5-2.5x more per square meter considering same criteria (same island, pool of same size/ breakfast type, parking etc. What others within similar price range of course don't offer is fruit/vegitable well maintained garden). Simply different pricing policy for which I cannot submit 10 points. 2. I'm a bit afraid that with time, window at the bathroom will eventually be getting a bit of a rust as it is close to the shower cell. Few minor other things one can easily overlook. 3. Parking was great but every day there were bird droppings on our car as there was no rooftop & was right under a tree. So eventually if you have rented car you may need to pay for extra cleanup. May be a thing to consider if more people find this as topic to improve. Could be we were really unlucky.
