Summary: Super friendly and helpful staff, great location in a calm and beautiful area between Pisa and Lucca (that are easy to get to by bus). Also there are several tracks up the mountain close to the hotel.

Summary: The hotel is in a old manor house in a small village, located about halfway between Lucca and Pisa. It was hard to find when we first arrived. If you like peace and quiet in the countryside, then this location is ideal. There are a few restaurants on the main road between Lucca and Pisa, but their opening hours are unpredictable. The hotel staff is friendly and breakfast is adequate.

Summary: This place was perfect for what we were looking for, situated in the village of Santa Maria del Guidice. It was the perfect setting to experience the real Italy but so close to both Pisa and the outstanding beautiful Lucca which is a must visit. The hotel itself is situated at the top of the village perfectly placed for stunning views of the Tuscany rolling hills from both the breakfast/dining terrace and the infinity pool. We had a superior double room which was large and spacious and the decor was in keeping with the renaissance building. Probably not to everyone's taste but exactly what we were looking for, we didn't want to be in a corporate hotel that could have been anywhere in the world. We loved the quirky safe in the stone wall. The bed was great and the shower very powerful, towels and toiletries were changed and stocked each day, the shower gels etc were really nice! Breakfast was your typical continental, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit etc along with various sweet treats as well and no complaints at all . We only had lunch twice at the hotel but it was good portions and very nice. If was a limited menu with Paninis, flat breads and a different pasta each day but definitely value for money. We only ate dinner once , the food was good but unfortunately the service let us down a bit on the night, we put this down to the large wedding also being catered for. Overall a fantastic stay.

Summary: a really unique place with a very special atmosphere - completely relaxing and a beautiful location. It's family run so very down to earth. The place wasn't completely ready for receiving visitors yet but the staff went out of their way to iron out any difficulties. Absolutely charming and homely with great breakfasts and a stunning pool

Summary: Fantastic new pool with beautiful views of the hills! Lovely old rustic building with lots of character. Our room was spacious and clean. Double bed a bit too firm for us but kids slept well. Good to have air con, though was a bit noisy. Good buffet breakfast with something for everyone from Italian cakes and fritata to croissants, museli and fruit. Plus eggs and continental beakfast. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Good base to explore Lucca.
