Positive: The area was within walking distance of the castle and of the Mans Abbey. There's many resturants and bars within easy walking distance too.

Negative: We knew that our Ferry docking time would mean we'd arrive before the check in time. Told that wouldn't be a problem but to telephone or message when we knew the time. We tried calling.and messaging before docking but had no answer. We tried again in the taxi but arrived to a locked door. We waited 30 mins but had to drag our luggage to a cafe in the square. We couldn't get in through the hotel door until 5pm. We dropped our bags and almost ran to the castle,.sadly it was too late to but entry. We were leaving before 7am the next morning ,so didnt visit the castle. The room was clean but tired and basic. The receptionist seemed disinterested.

Summary: Unable to check in at the time we expected to.

Positive: The location was good for the centre of Caen and where we needed to be. Easy walk from the bus stop too. Clean and relatively new bathroom.

Negative: Tiny room, had to climb across other person to get to one side of the bed. Hardly any room to walk at the end of the bed and to the only side not next to wall. No option to leave luggage. Photos don’t accurately depict rooms. Very dated.

Positive: Everything absolutely met our expectations, the hotel is cosy and tiny in a good way - the French way. If you look for the full Normandy experience, this one is the way to go. Also the stuff (especially Mrs Cynthia!) was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend!

Negative: The showers could've been cleaner. I can see that the hotel is ancient, but the showers need more attention. The whole room was very clean, the bathroom too, but we found some mold in the shower which wasn't nice.

Summary: Great hotel, totally worth staying in. In the centre of Caen gives you full Normandy experience.
