Positive: Open-air onsen (hot spring) bath via cable car access & ability to book an open-air onsen privately. Very friendly staff and service.

Negative: Not being able to order coffee in the restaurant with a Japanese breakfast (available only in the lounge)

Positive: Staff helpfull and friendly Facilities Services ( for example the night tour with the bus to the bridge offered by the hotel) Family Suite was new and updated and very comfortable Private onsen opportunity Japanese fine dining Besides the bridges and Mnt Tsurugi we enjoyed a long kayaking tour with the company Happy Rafting. The English speaking guide Eva did a fantastic job. Fun but we felt also we were in safe hands. Highly recommended It was nice to see that this beautiful Royakan also provides work opportunities for the (young) people in the area. The female owner of the Royakan is doing a great job.

Positive: Staying at this ryokan was an absolutely incredible experience. The staff are exceptionally attentive and welcoming, making you feel right at home while maintaining the grace and hospitality Japan is known for. The rooms and facilities give you a truly authentic ryokan experience. The onsen is a highlight—soaking in the warm waters while enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding mountains was pure magic. The food was another standout: beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious, offering a true taste of Japanese cuisine. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a serene, authentic, and memorable experience in Japan.

Positive: Charming. The propriotess sang a beautiful folk song to welcome us to dinner. Fresh, seasonal, authentic Japanese banquet. The nicest onsen we’ve been in. Not busy in June. Outdoor baths reached by small cable car and indoor baths with sauna and massage chairs. Try the rafting with Happy Raft too!

Positive: Fairly large ryokan. Excellent dinner and staff. Interesting outdoor onsen accessible via a cable car but it waa freezing cold at the onsen as the changing and shower area is all outdoors. Daily night tour of the Vine Bridge.

Positive: Staying at this hotel for 2 nights was one of the highlights of our trip. Our room was comfortable and very spacious, the meals were exceptional, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the hot spring facility is amazing with fabulous views across the valley. The local scenery is breathtaking. Great value for money!

Negative: There was nothing to dislike.
